I just talked to the nurse from my dr.s office....My PAP smear came back with some abnormal cells.....so when I go for my next appt. the dr. will be doing some kind of scope something or other test that will show the cells better......they wont do any type of biopsy or anything invasive while I am pregnant though....but still....it's just always something...

quick question . . . did you bd at all the day or so before your pap? that can make the test come back as abnormal. It did for my last one, and it did for a friend of mine in highschool. Just him hitting the cervix can cause some inflammation, which then shows up as "abnormal cells".

Hopefully it turns out to be nothing!!!

Dee-I am sorry you got news like that, I hate that feeling of "what next"! Certainly all is well, and more often then not those results turn out as nothing wrong. Keep your spirits up, you will be just fine! T&P are out to you!

Sorry to hear about your test Dee but try not to worry too much about it.

I had the same thing this past test and my sister who is 28 weeks pg did as well at her first OB visit. She was obviously frieked but her OB told her that more test come back abnormal during pregnancy than come back pos and that she wasn't going to recheck her again till after the baby. Apparantly this is very common. I have several friends and even my mom has had this at one point in life. Usually it's because of inflammation (like greenchild said) or from a virus or something and goes away on its own.
T & P's headed your way!

i just went through all of that. Thats why we are just now ttc although we werent lucky enough to be false positive. It is a very scarey thing to be told and until you hear it you cant really relate. The scope they are talking about is a colposcopy, and If they arent doing the biopsys along with it there shouldnt be any real pain, but after the baby comes and they do end up doing one it is uncomfortable (even though my male dr said it wouldnt be) but if you have any questions just im me my 3 month pap just came back abnormal so we are still in that boat, if you need to talk im here

oh and most info you read will tell you that hpv is the only thing that will make your pap come back abnormal that isnt true, my hpv test is neg ( which was a good thing cause I was about to kick my husband out for cheating lol) the dr said that after child birth some womens cervix becomes inflammed and can cause the cells to change,
