I've been MIA lately and I need your help with something.

AF finally showed up yesterday and this is my first AF post D&C. My post D&C "cycle" lasted 73 days. AF is certainly letting her presence be known! I have excrutiating cramps (I started getting mild AF-like cramps two days before she showed, then a little stronger the day before and it evolved from there) and I honestly walk around hunched over like an old woman because it hurts so bad. I can deal very well with pain, so I suppose that tells you how bad they are. Yesterday, I was taking two 200mg ibuprofen tablets every three or four hours, but it seemed they'd help a little for only an hour or so and then I was dying again. Last night, I pulled out the 600mg tablets I got from my doc after my D&C for cramps and those seem to help for an hour or so, too, then they wear off. Most of the time, it's the kind of cramping that goes into your butt and there's nothing you can do but try to breathe through them. If you've had them in the past, you know what I'm talking about.
Now for the flow. I figured this AF visit would be different and I would be bleeding more heavily, but what I'm experiencing is ridiculous! I'm ok, for the most part, if I'm sitting or laying down, but as soon as I stand up (and walk around or do something), it (TMI ALERT) literally just pours out and I have to run to the bathroom before I leak everywhere. It doesn't happen every time I get up, but I'd say 80% of the time it does. I've never experienced bleeding like this that I can remember. I guess I'm a little scared something may be wrong and I was wondering if you all could offer your experiences with your first AF post m/c and/or D&C. I suppose if I'm still bleeding like this and in this much pain in a few days, I'll most definitely be calling my doctor, but for now, I'm willing to live through it- especially if it's normal.
Please tell me I'm ok and/or you've experienced this as well.

Im really sorry for what you are going through. When I had my D&C it was like a normal period for me. I didnt have any cramping and the flow was regular. If I were you I would call your doctor tomorrow and let them know what is going on and see what they say. They may even give you something else for the pain. I'm really sorry that I cant help you better but I hope that AF lightens up for you and the cramps go away.
Were you TTC during the 73 days?

We were told to wait one cycle before TTC again, so we used the pull out method the first two times we had sex after the D&C and then we gave up on it. We figured if God wanted us to get pregnant, we would, so we were not trying and not preventing.

I'm sorry you have to go through this!!!

I agree with Angela, call your doc and see what he says. He could have an answer for you.

My first AF post my m/c was like a normal period flow wise, cramp wise - a lot worse!

I am just popping in here, and obviously I haven't had a period yet since my D&C was on Wednesday, but is there a chance you could have gotten pregnant again? It just sounds almost like a miscarriage, given what you have described. I would call the doctor and maybe they can at least give you something stronger for the pain. I wish you the best- I know that you have to be in a lot of pain.

I was thinking the same thing about the possibility of a m/c? I haven't had my first cycle yet after my D&C, but it really sounds like severe pain and flow that you are talking about. I hope you feel better soon!

I really think you should call your doctor. I am in the same boat as the other girls. It sounds like it could be M/C bleeding. I was in exactly the same situation when I m/c the last baby. I would stand up and the blood would just run out of me. It was very scary and I ended up in the hospital. Please go have yourself checked ASAP and keep us updated. You will be in my T&P!

Thanks girls. To be honest, when things started getting bad yesterday, the thought of a possible miscarriage/chemical pregnancy crossed my mind. I think I'll be calling my doc tomorrow and hopefully she'll be able to give me something for the pain because it's just getting worse.

I remember my first af after my loss was a little heavier than normal, but the cramping was not too bad.
I do agree with the girls, try to get in touch with your dr. tomorrow....
I truly hope it is just a crazy AF and not a loss.....

I was thinking it sounded like a m/c also but I didnt want to say it. I went through lots of bleeding and minor cramps right after my D&C and it lasted about a week and a half but that was due to the surgery. I'm glad you are going to call your doctor and let them know what is going on. Maybe they will have you come in for blood work to see what your HCG levels are. Then they can tell you if you were in fact pg again and going through a loss. I really hope that this is just a crazy AF and not another loss. Let us know what the doctor says. :dothugs:

My 1st AF post d&c was a lot heavier than usual, but less crampy....what you're describing sounds awful! I hope you feel better really soon, and that you get some answers from you doc!

My first AF was like that!! I had the worst cramps I have ever had the first cycle after my m/c and I had a couple of days of heavy bleeding, enough that at times I wore both a tampon and a pad. So it can happen, but I have always been prone to heavier periods, but I had never had cramps like those and I too tolerate pain very well. I stayed in bed with a heating pad on my belly and took naproxin. HTH!!

Thanks everyone! The cramps finally let up last night and my bleeding seems to be a bit lighter today, too. Hopefully this means the worst is over and AF will be a little more "normal" now. I'm not going to bother calling my doc unless things get worse again. Thanks again!!
