Hey everyone,
I'm Melissa, 22 married to dh 24. We were ttc #1 for a little over a year. we used Clomid, i had an hsg, a laparoscopy, a s/a only to show that everything is fine with my body- i just had trouble ovulating regularly. Well anyways, i never got pg on clomid, but just after my laparascopy i miraculously got pregnant on my own.
Words cannot describe how excited i was... i was litterally on cloud 9. We lost the baby around 8 weeks, even after we saw and heard a strong heartbeat of 160bpm at 7.4 weeks,. It was the worst feeling i have ever experienced. I didn't actually find out the baby had died until i was 11 weeks. I guess it's called a "missed miscarriage". When the baby dies, but you have no signs or symptoms, and your body continues treating it like it's still carrying a live baby.
I ended up having a D&C last week on the 27th. I bled a couple days afterwards, then it stopped. then it came back again and look a lot more period-like. Now it's just brownish. Is this normal?
My main question is when will be period come back? And when will i ovulate again? My dr had told me that after the d&c i should start my period between 4-6 weeks later. Has that been your experience?
Thanks in advance
<>< Melissa

Melissa, I am so sorry for your loss. You are definitely in the right place for support and advice. The women on this board are very smart, loving, funny, everything you could ever want.
I had a D&C October 17th. I had bleeding and brown discharge for about 10 days after. I was 13 weeks when I miscarried. The baby could have died a couple weeks before then, we don't know. I was supposed to go in to the doctor on Oct. 18 for an ultrasound appointment. It obviously wasn't meant to be. I got my period on Nov. 23. So I had to wait about 5 weeks for a period after the D&C. My period was normal, minor cramps, normal bleeding. Some women on here experience really heavy periods after D&C, I think anything can be considered "normal."
Good luck.
Look forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Melissa,
I'm so sorry for your loss!!
I didn't have a D&C, but my first AF following my m/c was 32 days after the bleeding stopped. So roughly 4 weeks. I'm not sure when I ovulated though. I know after a miscarriage your body can change it's cycles.
I wish I could be of more help.

Hi sweetie, again I am SO sorry for your loss!!!!! I was so excited when you finally got pg!!!
My experience has to do with the HCG levels, as you know both mine were ectopic so I didn't have a D & C. With the first one the levels were so low, i started AF 2 days after the surgery and went right back to a 28 day cycle. With the 2nd the levels were much higher; it took 2 weeks for them to drop, and once they were back to zero, AF showed 4 weeks later, and then back to my normal cycle. I was suprised, it wasn't any heavier than normal and I really thought it would be. I think 4 - 6 weeks is the norm, but I've also heard 6 - 10 weeks. But I've heard miscarriage can screw with your cycle too as far as ovulation goes. I hope yours gets back on track soon!

Hi Melissa! Welcome!!! That said I am so sorry for your loss. It is such a difficult thing to go through. I had a natural miscarriage. I bled about 10 days after the baby passed and then had my period exactly 28 days later. With my first misscarriage it was closer to 6 or 8 weeks (but I weighed a LOT more and was not in good health). My last 2 periods have been lighter than my usual flow, although I was told to expect a much heavier flow. If you need anything let us know. This is a great group of gals!

Hi Melissa, we were in the same DDC. I had my d&c on 11/19. But it was incomplete due to complications. The bleeding pretty much stopped over the weekend with the remaining discharge being brown. My OB said that was normal. I did an HPT and it still showed some hcg in my system, although I had the clinical signs around day 13 (ewcm) of impending ovulation along with a positive OPK. I am not sure if having a small amount of hcg effects the opk results. My OB said that I should be starting my period in the next 2-3 wks as what the ultrasound looked like. She said the same thing originally about starting period 4-6wks after d&c. The body is an amazing force, and it certainly will get back on track for you. I am sorry for your loss.
