So my bleeding and cramping was fairly heavy the first two days after the d&c, then it went to spotting. The last two days it has been absent, so i thought i was done. Well, today while shopping, i got horrible cramps, like AF cramps. I went to the bathroom and i was bleeding again! I have been getting a lot of EWCM mixed with old blood, (sorry tmi if ) I took an hpt and it is still positive! When will my body realize im not pg anymore?! Also, can i even count myself on any cycle day right now? Or am i in no man's land until my period shows up? I feel so confused about all this.
UGGHHH thanks for my vent ladies

The first day of your cycle is the day of the D&C. Just so you know when I m/c naturally I bled for 10 days and then nothing and then a few days later a couple more days of bleeding. I got a/f exactly 28 days after my loss. You are not in no mans land. You will probably get a positive hpt for 2 to 3 weeks (but can be longer). It is a very confusing and painful time, but we are here for you and ready to answer any questions we can. It almost seems like our bodies become traders or something. They don't do what they are suppose to do and it is all compacted by the grief we go through. You will be in my thoughts and prayers Melissa!

oh hun, thank you so much! That makes me feel ten times better. It's horrible to see that beautiful positive hpt that i have been longing to see- but at the same time knowing that there is no living baby inside me...
Anyways, thanks for answering my questions. I guess that makes me on cd 8 then.

Yep, your first cycle day would be the day of your D&C. As far as the positive pregnancy test, that can last for a while it varies between women and also depending on how the m/c happened. I believe with a D&C the HCG tends to decrease faster, but for me (I had a missed m/c as well, but used a medication to induce the m/c rather than a D&C) I was getting positive HCG blood tests for 9 weeks post m/c. So, its really hard to say what exactly goes on with our bodies after m/c, but it will get back to normal!! The waiting is horrible, I know!!

I agree it could take a few weeks for the hCG levels to completely leave your body. Which totally sucks!!! I didn't test after my m/c, so I can't tell you if I got a positive after.

I'll be thinking of you Melissa!!

Hey there... just wanted to let you know that you are totally normal to bleed on and off! i did! and its totally normal to take a long time to get a negative HPT....most def longer than a week... and it does suck...

Hope the bleeding stops for real soon! then you can really start waiting for your period, and for your body to start getting back to normal!!

I am so sorry you are having to deal with this its so hard.

I had a nurse explain to me once that once we get pregnant, our bodies prepare for a normal NINE month pregnancy and healthy birth, just like our minds do. So when we miscarry our bodies are not prepared for it, they were prepared to carry that baby 9 months, so our bodies go crazy just like our minds do, and it can take a long time for our bodies (and minds) to get back to "normal" if there is such a thing after the loss of a baby.

Melissa, I am so glad you asked those questions, b/c I was wondering the same thing. I had a D&C one week ago today, so just a day after you. I am still bleeding about the same as the first day.. light but enough to have to wear a pad. I took a preg test Monday night and it was still very positive. I went ahead and ordered a bunch of preg tests and ovulation strips so I can start trying to figure out what's going on with my body. I am going to start doing the ovulation tests in another week since I guess we can ovulate 2 or 3 weeks after a miscarriage. My good friend and I have the same doctor and he told her when she miscarried that she would be very fertile starting 2 weeks after her miscarriage and told her to try as soon as she felt like it. I haven't seen him since my surgery and won't for 3 more weeks. He didn't tell me anything about preventing or trying and just told me I could start BDing a week after surgery. Of course, he is very liberal about things and has always been that way - even after my c-section he let me start exercising (cautiously) right away. I am curious to know if I will ovulate before my first cycle or not.

Good luck to you; I hope we are both able to get back on some sort of regular schedule soon!

oohh, it's so nice to have someone on the same page as me.... Even though I am terribly sorry it has to be in this way. My heart broke when I found out you lost your little one.
Be careful about the opk's because i heard they can give a false + when you still have the pg hormones in your system. I really hope that we both get on track here soon, and hopfully can conceive again and be in the same ddc Keep me updated ok? We can be cycle buddies
Take care hun!

Yes, I had heard that as well about getting false +'s. I hope my body will give me a sign b/c I'm usually really good about being able to tell when I am about to ovulate. And the EWCM. Of course, all bets are off now on what will happen.

We can definitely be cycle buddies! I am so ready to get back on track!

Good luck and keep me posted on things.
