Em -- If you don't mind me asking.... You've indicated in previous posts that you had a natural m/c followed by a d&c. Can you give me some details on what required the follow-up D&C? Was it because your HCg hadn't returned all the way to ZERO? What was the level when you went for the D&C? Thanks!

Hey!

I had a natural m/c on Oct 23rd... thought that was that! went in for my follow up exam Oct 31st... They did an u/s and said that they still saw placenta tissue in my uterus, and since it had been a while since my m/c that i had a higher risk of getting an infection from the left over tissue and to get a d&c.. so i got the d&c on Nov 2nd. When i went for my follow up on the 31st i was still getting Positive pregnancy tests... but i dont know what my HCG count was... Then on Nov 20th ( 2 w 4 d after my d&c) i got a negative preg test (i only took one after my d&c) and started my period that same day... exactly 4 weeks after my m/c... I never went for my follow up apt after my d&c because i forgot about it, and when i called the OBG they asked me if i was doing good.. which i was, and not to worry about it...

i hope that answers your Q!!

Thanks Em! I guess I need to go POAS and make sure mine is negative. I haven't checked. My last HCg was 3 and I know that is pretty low, but my mom keeps telling me -- make sure it gets to ZERO. (She is an ER nurse). It's been 32 says since my m/c and AF hasn't shown yet. I'm trying to be patient, but it's just so hard!! Thanks again for the details. Good luck in your 2WW. I hope you get your BFP this time!!

I think i got my period a lot sooner than most ppl do after a miscarriage... I wasnt expecting it for another couple weeks when i got it... But even that wait was long enough for me! so i know what youre going through!

I was told by my doctor and also read online that it is normal to have hcg between 0-5 in your body at anytime and it considered negative for pregnancy. I wouldn't worry too much about it dropping more because it may not drop below 3.

I hope you get AF soon!

Oh, I also wanted to mention to save you money on the HPT because the best ones will only detect HCG down to 20 (sometimes they go lower) but 3 will definately show up as negative. Here is a link for the detection levels of different HPT's. link
