I miscarried last week due to a blighted ovum. I had a scan at 6w but sac measures less and was empty. I was pregnant before this one, and at 6w there was a baby so something was wrong.

Doc told me to come after a couple of weeks, and it was still empty. On the u/s the sac was surrounded by blood so doc stimulated my cervix and it helped me to miscarry naturally. It's been horrible, pains!!

We will TTC again when doc tells us to do so when we r ready. I might start taking cortisone and am allergic to baby aspirin, whch doc has prescribed me to take.

I am scared to death, but cant wait to get pregnant again and have a baby hopefully in 2008! there is time!

Anyone out there experiencing this or experienced?

I went to my 12 wk appt to hear the heartbeat and when they couldn't find one, went to U/S. U/S revealed that the egg sac was empty (no yolk even). The egg sac was measuring about 7 or 8 weeks. I was never given a "diagnosis" but my research indicated that it was a blighted ovum. I've also heard that it's possible that the embryo may have been reabsorbed (sp?), so I'm not sure if that is technically the same as blighted ovum. I found out on Halloween and scheduled a D&C 2 days later, but the day before, I began bleeding, so I opted to have a natural m/c. I am now I've been waiting 37 days for first AF.

Sorry for your loss, sweetie! You found a great place to "land" though!
