My husband and I are trying to conceive after our first pregnancy, miscarriage with d and c, and then 2nd d and c for retained tissue. But my question for everybody is did anybody miscarriage after seeing the fetal heartbeat??? And what did the doctor's tell you was the cause? And have you conceived afterwards to go on to have a healthy pregnancy? We saw the fetal heartbeat on a transvaginal ultrasound at 7 w 4 d and we lost the baby at 8 w 6 d. The doctor said it just happens and that we'll be fine. But I've read some different things that state only 5% of women lose a baby after the heartbeat was seen. Any info would be great. Thanks.

Same thing happened to me but I was 10weeks when the baby was fine on u/s. A week later the baby had died. My doctor told me after that u/s that I had about a 1% chance of m/c then. Well I guess I am not very lucky

It took my body three weeks after my baby died to m/c naturally. My water actually broke and I had a mini labor. Not everything came out though and I had to have a D&C still.

I have been PG once since then and it was chemical. I refuse to give up.

From what I have read causes of a m/c after u/s with heartbeat can be due to placental problems, genetic defects, and blood clotting problems with the mother.

I am not sure you ever will get the answer to the question of why. It really stinks

First, I'm so sorry for your loss!!! Miscarriage is a hard thing to go through, no matter what.

I personally did not see the heartbeat of my baby before I miscarried him. I've read online that having a miscarriage after seeing the heartbeat is 5%, like you mentioned. Why it happens, I don't know. Like Bobbie mentioned it could be a number of things.

I'm so sorry you're going through this, and wish you luck in the future with TTC.

It happened to me.

My 6 week ultrasound showed no baby, was told I would likely miscarry (also had slow rising hcgs).

My 7 week ultrasound showed a baby with a good heartbeat (120) and I was told my chances of miscarrying was only 5%.

10 days later, another ultrasound and the baby had died.

My doctor thinks it was probably some sort of genetic problem. We are now trying to conceive again.
I know something must have been wrong all along because I don't think the baby was growing as quickly as "normal". As to why, I can only guess and hope my doctor was right and that it was just a one time genetic problem.

I went to our midwife and heard a good, strong heartbeat at about 12 weeks. Then we went again about 5 weeks later and the baby had died at about 14 weeks. It took a month after the baby died for me to actually lose it. The doctor said it was probably some sort of genetic problem, but we'll never know, which makes it very scary to TTC again (not that it's ever easy to TTC after a m/c - it's always scary once it has happened to you). I also read that chance of losing the baby is less than 5% after hearing the heartbeat.

I don't know about subsequest pregnancies, but I did have a healthy, easy pregnancy with dd. We're currently just starting to TTC again after our loss in October.

{{{HUGS}}} I'm so sorry for your loss!

I just wanted to add because I hate to see anyone go through what i did. Normally they make you wait until you mc 3x or more to run tests, but if you tell them that you just learned of a family history of blood clotting disorders they might test you. I suggest anyone ttc get these tests, just to avoid the heartbreak. Sometimes all it takes is a low dose aspirin to carry full term. There are several other women that have gone on to have a perfectly healthy baby and never get these tests. I hope you get your bfp soon!

yeeeh. we heard and saw the heartbeat at 6w 4d... and i then started to spot at about 10 w 4 d and went on to have the Drs tell me that the baby probably lived until it was about 9 weeks and then died..i miscarried at 11w 2d..... Dont know why..

and i personally beleive the miscarriage rate after seeing the heart beat is higher than 5%.. but i guess they dont count the ones that die after 20 wks as miscarriages.. those are called something else.

we had a heartbeat at 6.5 weeks and then no heartbeat at 7.5 weeks.
the doctor told us it must have been a chromosomal problem, or something to that effect.
that was in October and we're still TTC.
