hello, well i introduced myself not long after my first m/c in sept and lurked all the time without really knowing what to say. I got my BFP at the end of Nov, but unfortunatly i m/c again at the weekend.

i am wondering if there is anything different i can do this time, both were early, first being 4+3 this being 5+1. obviously no drinking and smoking but is there anything different we can do?

when i spoke to the midwife at EPU she was really nice but also said that 2 in a row are normal and i will most probably go on to have a normal pregnancy next time, although obviously not pinning my hopes on that! i already have a DD but to a different dad, so i dont know if that can be a factor!

sorry to ramble on, but not sure where i stand to be honest.

Sam xx

I am so so sorry for your losses! Unfortunately, m/c's can happen for no reason, and just be "bad luck". I know that it must be painful for you not to have an answer as to why you've had 2 in a row....but sometimes there are no answers. Hopefully your next pg will be a sticky one, and since you already have one dd, your chances of having another greatly improve.

I'm so sorry. Did your midwife say anything about checking your progesterone levels? That is the only thing I could think of that might affect the pg sticking around longer. I hope she is right though and next time is healthy and sticks.

I am so sorry for both of your losses how heartbreaking!! like Em said that is all of our biggest fears

I would ask your dr. to check your progesterone level either during ovulation, or right when you get another BFP if you decide to try again.

((hugs))

I'm just lurking here, but I wanted to agree with this. I had 2 back to back early losses, the first at 6w3d and the second at 4w5d. I was "lucky" in that after my second loss, my dr suggested running some tests. They discovered that I had a luteal phase defect (which I did suspect b/c my luteal phase was usually only 10 days or so). They put me on clomid to try and strengthen ovulation. I ended up getting pregnant again that cycle although the clomid didn't seem to have any affect on my progesterone numbers. I was actually spotting when I got my bfp. Anyway, they put me on Prometrium and it did the trick for me. The progesterone check is just a blood test so I would see if they could do that on your next cycle.

I just wanted to add that I have a good friend that had 2 miscarriages and although her doctor said that they *usually* wait to refer to a specialist after 3 miscarriages, that if she wanted to go get checked out, she could. It's a good thing she did because she ended up having to give herself shots of heparin for the first 12 (or so?) weeks of her pregnancy AND taking progesterone. She now has a healthy 3 month old baby girl at home!

Just wanted to add my two cents worth! GL
