Sorry I have to rant here for a minute. So I just got another freakin bill from the hospital from my m/c I had this summer. The last time I received one of these, it said "pending information from insurance company-waiting on information from subscriber". I called my insurance company who said that they were not paying any of my bills until I let them know whether or not I had additional insurance. WHAT!?? I told the lady that no, I have no other insurance and she said she would update my account and the bills would be processed.

So here I am tonight, with another freakin $800 bill from the ER that is unpaid-for the same exact reason-it still says they are waiting on the insurance company!! Of course now the bill is getting snarky too-the if this bill is not paid, we will have to turn this over to a collection agency, that sort of thing.

ARGHHHHHH it is soooo frustrating!! You can't even get your bills paid when you do EVERYTHING you are supposed to be doing!!!

(and of course it is too late to call the insurance company & I have class until 5 pm tomorrow).

That's so stupid!!! How is it any of their business if you have other types of insurance??? They should just pay the darn bill!!!

Isn't that what insurance is for ANYWAY???

Ugh!!!

I hope you're able to get this straightened out soon! That would drive me nuts!!!

Don't get me started!! I am going through a living he!! from my medical bills in August (D&C). My insurance isn't the best and covered very little. I am now getting bills from the hospital for my portion due (hospital and anethesia and lab) to the tune of $3500!!! It appears insurance paid $800, which means my procedure cost over $4000!! INSANE!!

I can tell you my insurance SUX too, but I got a nasty phone call from a bill collector after my son's death and I called the hospital and complained at how awful it was and the lady was SO great. She not only called the company who calls on behalf of them for their billing and chewed them out (so she said, and she seemed sincere), but she also opt'd not to bother refiling my insurance, but just wrote the bill off and apologized, saying that no one who's already been through so much deserves a phone call about a bill.

If they could all only be so nice.

Now I am fighting my former OBGYN on a bill for "fertility" treatments where he diagnosed me as "unexplained infertility" without even telling me... he told me something totally different and I felt duped into being treated when I might not have gone that route first if I'd been given the full details of his "plan". I think he wanted to rip me off and the insurance co. and they were too smart to fall for it, however, that left them being nasty to me instead. I am fighting it head on.

seriously, if things are this difficult for those of us WITH insurance, I can't even begin to imagine what it is like for the thousands of people who don't have insurance.

UGH why does it have to be so hard! wah.

Arrgghhh...Insurance companies (in general) all stink. They will do anything and everything they can to pay as little as possible or take as long as possible to pay what they are supposed to pay. Anyways, I work with ins. companies in my job and my advice to you is the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Call them often and make sure it is getting taken care of correctly. They listen to you more than they do the doctors office/hospital people because YOU pay them. Good luck!

AAAWWWWEEEE!!!! So FRUSTRATING!!!! I keep getting bills too!!!I hate it and the amount of $$$$ that it cost to go the hospital is ridiculous. I mean for my m/c it probably totalled 5 or 6 thousand. Thank God for insurance but the hoops you have to jump through and the calls that have to be made SUCK. I am sorry you are having to go thru this!!!

I know what happens to those without insurance... My uncle died of colon cancer b/c he couldn't afford the doctor, when he went into remission, he waited too long to go back, his cancer had come back and spread like wildfire. Hundreds of thousands of dollars later, he didn't survive.

It's so sad when you feel you can't go to the doctor because it is so expensive. My DH had emergency surgery in 2002 on a Sunday of course and 13,000 later... waaahhhhlahhh... He paid 5,000 off and they sued him for 8,000. I mean come on, he was in the hospital for 2 days!!!!
