1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Egg nog - yummmm!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Depends on the size of the gift. Most small / boxy type gifts were wrapped when Santa visited me as a kid. Big stuff was under the tree or leaning against the tree.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
white lights on tree and house.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Not this year but I have;

5. When do you put your decorations up?
The first weekend in December.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)?
Sweet potato pudding/ which is kind of like dessert but it's served as a side dish.

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
There are so many. Just being around family members and the general excitement around the holidays, particularly those who have since passed on.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
I think I was seven or eight. I kept up a front for a few years so I still could get the santa gifts...LOL.

9. Do you open any gifts on Christmas Eve?
No. Christmas morning only.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
Well - this is the first year we have had a pre-lit tree. I have to admit it was nice to not have to wrestle with lights. We do bulbs, decorative picks (the kind you find at the craft stores to decorate wreaths), pinecones, fake pointsettia blooms, other random ornaments. Not a garland girl. Oh - and ribbons.

11. Snow! Love it or dread it?

DREAD it. Can so live with out it. The only time it is kind of welcome is on Christmas Eve, as long as its melted by Christmas day around noon so everyone can make it to dinner!
12. Can you ice skate?
No. DH and SD get a kick out of seeing me bust my behind on the ice.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

My dollhouse. I can't remember how old I was but I loved it and it's still at my parent's house.
14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Being around my family and just being thankful.

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
My mother is an awesome cook and baker. I love her pound cake and coconut cake. I also love cookies - I'm the one that usually bakes them and they are pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
DH and I need to start some of our own. Just getting up early, unwrapping gifts and having a huge country breakfast.

An angel

That is a hard question...LOL. Nowadays, giving.

The Christmas Song - Nat King Cole's version. Its a classic.

Yep - have them on hand even though I don't always put them on the tree.

The grinch that stole Christmas.

Cookies and milk...what else?

Fake. Love the smell of a real tree but fake trees are so much more convenient...and kinder to the environment.

5. When do you put your decorations up? Didn't make it this year, and am sad about it but too much emotion and sadness this Christmas. Just didn't get it done.

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child? The beautiful glow of the tree and the year I found a note (age 6ish) from Santa in my mom's handwriting and discovered something wasn't quite right!!!??!!

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Themed... snow, blue, ice type items, but next year may be different

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? My favorite gift was a rosary that my husband hung on the Christmas tree our first Christmas together back in 1995 when we were dating.

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? Chocolate Chip Cookies, homemade by my mom


16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? It's a new one, going to the Lights display on the square and riding the horse drawn carriage. We started it last year on our wedding day. We will do it every year as long as we can.

19. What is your favorite Christmas song? The one about Chestnuts roasting on a open fire... what is that one called? Oh and Mrs. Piggy's version of Christmas is Coming...LOL... I also love O Holy Night and Carol of the Bells

21. Favorite Christmas movie? All the older Christmas cartoons, there are so many great ones and this year, my sisters and I are trying to track them down. Found one on You Tube yesterday


22. What do you leave for Santa? Cookies and milk of course, but I can't convince my DH to sneak down and eat them and pretend he didn't.


23. Real tree or fake? Fake, my DH would keel over if we brought a real one home... he's deathly allergic. Kind of a bummer, I'd like to try a real one sometime.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? So Sad!!!! I went to a Christian school and we always had Chapel on Thursdays. We went one day and the person who was giving the sermon told us our mommies and daddies had been lying to us. That there was no Santa. I was in 2nd grade I think. My mom and all the other parents at the school were fit to be tied. He was never welcomed back to do Chapel at our school.


9. Do you open any gifts on Christmas Eve? Yes, my husbands family tradition is to open presents at Midnight but we have Sophie so we open them around 8. We spend every Christmas Eve with my MIL. We buy Sophie a pair of PJs and she opens them on Christmas Eve, me and Dh only open the gifts from his mother on Christmas Eve


10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?It sed to be all snowmen, but has become just a mishmosh of different things since Sophie was born


11. Snow! Love it or dread it?Neither, live in so cal so we don't get it unless we go to the mountains and it is fun once in a while, but I don't have enough experience with it to love or dread it


12. Can you ice skate?Nope, never been and scared to death to think about doing it. I am not the most graceful person in the world and then to add ice and thin little blades to balance on? Not a good combination. LOL

Okay - silly me!!! I put the darn survey up, and didn't put my answers!!! Soooo.....here they are!!!

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate? Egg nog - hands down!! My mom makes homemade egg nog every year and it's AMAZING!!

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? We don't do the Santa thing, but the presents are definitely wrapped!! I LOVE wrapping presents!

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Both - I'm way to wishy-washy to pick just one

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nope

5. When do you put your decorations up? Whenever the urge hits - usually a couple weeks before Christmas


6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Sweet potatoes - YUM!


7. Favorite holiday memory as a child? My brother waking me up in the middle of the night to sneak downstairs to eat frozen cookie dough!

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I don't ever remember doing the "Santa" thing, so I think I always knew

9. Do you open any gifts on Christmas Eve? All of the gifts from my in-laws because we spend Christmas day at my mom and step-dad's house. We go over to my husband's parent's house Christmas eve afternoon and his grandparents Christmas eve evening


10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? With whatever ornaments we have - sometimes I have a color scheme and sometimes I don't. We also have some special sentimental ornaments we use.


11. Snow! Love it or dread it? Love it if I'm not out in it


12. Can you ice skate? Yep, love it!


13. Do you remember your favorite gift? A stuffed bear I named "Ginger" that I got when I was little - now my daughter has it and loves it.


14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you? Family, family, family!!! It's the only timeof year I get to see my brother, so it means a lot when he comes home for Christmas!


15. What is your favorite holiday dessert? My mom's homemade cookies


16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? My mom always picks out a special Christmas book for us to read as a family - we all pass it around and read a page of it until it's done. They're always really touching and I cry every single year. Also, we all get a new ornament every year and we put our own ornaments on the three on Christmas Eve when dh, I, and Trinity get to the house.

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child? Christmas at my Nan & Pop's house! Small tree, not many presents, but it was a wonderful feeling being with them on Christmas morning. I really do miss them, and I think the older I get, the harder it is to not have them here with us during this holiday.


8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I think I was 10 or 11. I was in the bathroom, and my sister thought my dad was in there, and started bringing out all the presents, I caught her in the act. They tried to say Santa left them in the closet. Yeah, OK!!!


9. Do you open any gifts on Christmas Eve? 1 gift at midnight.


10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? We TRY to only put certain things on, like homemade ornaments. But it never ends up like that!


11. Snow! Love it or dread it? Love it for Christmas only. The rest of winter it can flock off!!!!


12. Can you ice skate? Yes I can!!! I also used to play hockey on a beaver pond!!! Gotta love Newfoundland!!!


13. Do you remember your favorite gift? My favourite gift was my stocking holder, it is silver and holds my picture. My mom gave it to me when we first moved into the house.
