Ok so.....Markus' mom has never been my biggest fan and I know for a fact that she doesn't like me. But, for Christmas and for Markus' sake, I've decided to just squash it all and be civil. Not saying I'm rude to her, but, I'm definitely not her biggest fan either!

But, for Christmas, I HAD to get her something. It didn't feel right. She DOES take care of Markus during the week, and the days we don't have him. So, I got her this "Willow Tree" called Mother and Son, I thought she'd really like that. So, I asked Dwayne to give it to her, and request that she not open it until they were out of her sight on the street.

He said he was about to get onto the highway and she called him, he said she was really choked up. All she could say was "tell Jessica I really appreciate it, tell her thank you" and said bye. Well, when they arrived, he told me and I felt really good, I'm glad she liked her gift. She also had a little something in Markus' suitcase -- $500 for Dwayne!!!! Telling him, she was sorry for being SO rude about the child support payments. He immediately called her, and told her he was going to put it into Markus' account. She said that she knew he'd do it, and agreed that in Markus' account would be the best place. Markus made a picture for Dwayne! It said "I love you Daddy", Dwayne absolutely loved it!!!

Here is the website picture of the Willow Tree:

Wow Jessica! Seems like you handled what could be a tough situation and it went really well! I am glad she liked the gift and how nice that she sent that $ and apologized for being so rude! Glad it all went well!

Jessica, I think you nailed the Christmas spirit on the head. That was awesome to read about in all aspects. May it shine back on you from here on out.

Jess, sometimes we have to be the bigger person. and you did a wonderful job at finding something that would mean alot to her. I really like that. Im in the same boat as you Hubby has 2 other children and his ex and i are not nice. Well usually just me, she tries to be mean and put Dwayne down all the time but i dont go for it, and i say what needs to be said! I like the idea about opening a account for him with the money!!

Jess, you are truly amazing person!!!

Thanks ladies!!! I'm all red-faced now!!!

I figured it would just be easier to get along with her, than have a riff between us. The whole child support thing definitely put a rock between us, and to be all honest, it's not really my business. But, I was tired of seeing Dwayne going through b.s., so that's why I was even involved with it! Things are a lot better now!

I'm just glad I made her Christmas a little better, by giving her something from the heart!

What a nice gesture. Kill them with kindness is my philosophy (...most of the time ) It sounds like the love and joy of this holiday season was in full abundance at your home. Thanks for sharing

Thats was a very thoughtful gift Jess. I'm glad to hear that she liked it. I have two willow tree figures.

I bought one and DH bought me one. I love the willow tree stuff.
