I was researching and found this site. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2...oot_during.html

Have any of you tried this? I like that it is safe to take during pregnancy. I also like the success rate of pregnancy. Also it mentions about keeping progesterone higher in first trimester, so that may help some of you that have an issue with progesterone or luteal phase defect. I am seriously thinking about giving it a try!! I would love feedback if you have used this.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I've recently been reading a little about maca and didn't know this about balancing hormones. I try to do at least a 60% raw foods diet and we eat raw maca powder in smoothies and dip raw cacao beans in it for an energy boost. So I've tried it but not for pg but I'll keep using it now...

How does it taste? Horrible? What all can you use it in to disguise the taste? I didnt' realize it was so beneficial for dh too! hmmm...maybe I will talk him into trying it.

I am also trying the low GI diet because I am diabetic and it is supposed to help. Plus I have a ton of weight to lose now after the holidays.

Thanks so much for sharing...

You will love the GI plan, I do it and I always feel full and satisfied. I will sometimes have something in the yellow, but always make sure I can make it a bit healthier. I started out at nearly 270 last Feb and I really didn't do anything about it until Oct 12. I lost a total of 50 pounds since Feb and 35 of those are from Oct. I'm hoping I'm less on Monday but I started working out with weights which can make you gain a pound or 2. The biggest change is just drinking water and avoid caff. if you can and avoid the sugar fizzy drinks, even the diet ones. They taste great but have aspartme in them and I've read that it acts as a weight loss inhibitor.

I always looked at my plate with the meat taking up half the plate and 2 sides but with the GI plan, you look at half your plate with veggies.

Try and steam all your veggies with as little water as possible to keep as many of the nutrients as possible, raw veggies are better.

Diabetes runs in my family so my odds of getting it are very high, plus I had gestational diabetes. Jello instant puddings, sugar free fat free were my faves over there, but we don't get them over here, gutted.

You will do wonderfully on the GI plan and the success rate of the plan is very high.

Best wishes!

Congrats on losing the weight!! I am as big as I was when I was 7 months preg. We think I have pcos on top of the diabetes, so it makes it harder to shed the pounds. Do you recommend any particular book? I am still a little confused about it. Any help with that is appreciated.

Uh oh, I didn't realize I couldn't have caffeine. Oh well I was trying to cut back anyways, because I don't like to drink that during pregnancy.

the maca powder is kinda bitter so I mix it with a little honey but I guess that wouldn't fly to well with your diet but I'm not so sure what GI plan is....I was assuming glycemic index.

My dh did mention to me however today after I told him about your post that maca was good for a man's drive as well!

I have the Rick Gallop books, got a deal off ebay for a set of them and a cookbook. There is even chocolate cake which is in the green light section. It includes a frosting, and even that is in the yellow. It is scrumptous and sweet enough without the icing, but the icing is nice for a birthday cake.

cooks.com has a recipe search for healthy recipes and does the recipe zaar and eat better america.

I think there is a new version of the GI Revolution book by Jenni Miller coming out soon. Her books just don't appeal to me.

You don't have to cut out caff. completely but you definately want to limit it if you like to have it.

I almost forgot, there are books for the GI plan for women with PCOS. I haven't seen it at my store but it looks good. Also you can get a shopping guide and it's all color coded, makes it easy at the shop.

Eating as if you were a diabetic is so healthy, I love looking at recipes for them, you can't beat the nutritional value in them.

I would always look for the books second hand, there are some good deals. Check Amazon's market place and it will bring up sellers who offer them at good prices.

Let me know how you get on and if I can help in any other way......just make sure you get your 8 glasses of water a day and more if you work out.

I wish you all the best, I know you can do it!!!!!

I just went and bought it! I started using it today on cd6, so we will see how much it helps this month!! At least if nothing else, it gives me some hope. I am feeling confident though that this will do the trick! And if I get my bfp this month, then I will be telling all of you girls to buy some. I have already talked to a couple other girls that have taken it and guess what they both got pg on the first month trying it. I like those odds!!
