I brought chance home on the 10th. on the 11th my other dog, Krod, got some salami that had been out atleast half the day, so may have been bad.
Yesterday he puked twice and hasnt eaten since! wont even eat a dog treat. he gets up and walks around, and goes outside to potty, etc.. but will not touch food, which is not like him.
Chance seems healthy as can be.
Any ideas, is this normal from possiby eating bad food? have any of you had your dogs do it and be fine?"?

Have tried giving him broth over his food or a can of food? We usually only give ours dry food so when they get broth or a can they gobble their food down.
Back in August my dogs both ended up with a stomach bug...we ended up taking one of them to the doggy hospital b/c she became so dehydrated. You can even try to give your dog gatorage or pedilyte to help him stay hydrated. I would watch him over the next few days and encourage him to eat maybe smaller more frequant meals.

is he having loose stools??
Make sure he is getting plenty of fluids......
broth wouldn't be a bad idea, but try to keep his diet bland.

I think I'd call the vet in that situation since the salami could have had some growing bacteria from being left out on the counter. It is likely that your dog just isn't eating while he gets over this but you might just want to call the vet to make sure they don't need to see him.

Thank you all very much!!
I fed him some chicken and rice a few hours ago, and he gobbled it up and is keeping it down so far!! If he is worst and not improving tomorrow I will call when the vet is open.
If anyone else has had this happen? what happened?

Do you think his lack of eating could possibly be related to jealousy of the new dog and not something he ate? Especially as the events occurred so close together?

I am glad he seems to be feeling better. I would def call the vet if he takes a turn for the worse. It was probably just the bad meat but just to be safe I'd call... Funny you fed him rice because that is what I was going to mention.

you would be surprised how much "bad" food a dog can tolorate. My neighbors dog rips open the garage bags as soon as he gets a chance. All kinds of nasty stuff in there. As long as he is eating chicken and rice, you should be good. It's serious if they wont drink water. The salami might have been too much for his belly. I second the peptobismol (pill form) suggestion. He he keeps vomiting, I would have him checked. Is the other dog vaccinated against parvo, etc?

I was freaking out it could be Parvo, but I highly doubt it as he has no other symptoms and is up o date on shots.
The dog we just adopted got his parvo shot the day we left the pound.....
So far Krod is doing good!! I will keep you guys updated, he isnt compoletely himself, but I think he will be soon!
