I'd like to do the group thing, if everyone is up for it. I can't do an individual gift, because I'm not from the states and it's not possible.

So, Dee is off the money collector list!!!
Which registry are we going with??? The BRU.com registry looks like it has soooo much more stuff they need. The other two has mostly clothing.

Count me in...but not as the $$ collector either cause I suck at stuff like that. Does anyone have paypal? Does the registry accept paypal?

I do not know about the Paypal....I'll have to look at the registries.....and Bobbie, may I also suggest....maybe a private subforum to discuss all of the gift ideas??? I think it would be easier than PM's when it comes time....what do you think????

I'm not sure about the Paypal thing either. I think it's strictly credit cards for online purchases or gift cards.
How many of us are willing to do this???

I'm in, even though I already have part of her gift.
I'll throw this idea out, would you guys like me to be the money collector?
I live near Astrid and we are still trying to work it out with our Dhs to see if I can attend the baby shower in person. In that case, I could just go to BRU (or whereever) and buy the gift and take it to her so we don't have to worry about shipping. This is all contingent on getting my Dh to not freak out about it and her Dh to not freak out about it.
I do have a paypal account and we could do it that way. It would be the easiest way to do it, I think. Or I suppose we could have people mail cash if that was the only way they could do it. You guys have to PROMISE me you'd pay me though!
For Paypal, what you do is set up an account using your email address. You can set it up with your bank account or your credit card. Then all you do is go in and say you want to send XX dollars to a certain email address. So for example, you would set it send XX dollars to ShannonMVT@myemail.com (fyi, not my real address) and then XX dollars would be taken from your bank account or credit card and I would get the money in my paypal account.
Then I would transfer that money to my bank account, go out and buy the gift and (hopefully) bring it to Astrid. If not, I'd have it shipped.
What do you think?
Oh and I ditto the idea of a private subforum so we can talk about what to get her. Or we can make a thread titled "Astrid DO NOT READ THIS" and hope she doesn't get nosy. I'm sure if I PMed her and asked her to stay out, she would, so that it could be a surprise.

GREAT ideas Shannon!!!
How long does it take to get the Paypal account set up??? I think doing that would be a lot safer than sending the money through the mail! And God only knows how long that would take!!

I think doing it through your bank account make take a day or two. With credit card, I think it's immediate. But I'm not positive on that.

I'm totally in. Just tell me how much and what email to send it too. I to agree on the private post. That way she cant read it hehe. I guess we should start looking at whats on the list.
Idea, we should do a sign up on the board and tell anyone that signed up the password to the private board so we can pick out what we are getting and how much and the email of the person we are sending the money too. We sooooo have to get her a card too!!!!!

Right now there's 7 of us that are willing to do it! Should we have a time frame of when people can sign up for this?

I would like to join in too, if that's okay. We already have a paypal account, so the money transfer is no problem for me. I think if Shannon can take the gift over in person, it would get us more gift for our $$ cause we wouldn't have to pay what could be enormous S/H charges if we get a *bigger* item.
