Okay, I stopped a couple years ago and decided to start back up. I am going to Vitamin Cottage today to pick up some False Unicorn root (don't really know why they call it that) but anyway I plan to start taking that tincture now throughout my next pregnancy and it is for toning your uterus and alkalizing the ovaries (was commonly used by Native Americans) . Yesterday I made a tea infusion of Red Clover and mint (for flavor) so I will start drinking that daily. The Red Clover is supposedly the best herb for establishing fertility and balancing hormones and alkaline levels in the vagina and uterus. I will sometimes also mix it up and drink teas with Nettle Leaves, Red Rasberry, and Don Quai.

In addition I put Travis on some vitamins with me. He now takes a multivitamin, Omega3, coQ10, & Vitamin E (so important for male and female reproductive systems). Any other suggestions?

Stephanie sent me the link for Cordyceps which I think is a mushroom extract that I'll order too

Am I missing anything?

Oh, I also have Maca root powder but haven't used that yet. Gotta look into that one a little more. I know since it isn't an herb you can't have too much of it but I have to look into what to mix the powder with. I haven't even opened my bottle yet

i have been thinking about taking the red raspberry for it's uterine-strengthening/toning effects but I want to wait to see how this situation pans out since I haven't m/c yet. I know that if you ARE pg you shouldn't take raspberry until your 3rd trimester, closer to your due date to help prepare for delivery.

I know you can take false unicorn root & lobelia to help with threatened m/c - if the fetus is healthy it can help to heal torn placentas and other things, and if the fetus isn't healthy, it will help you to have an easier time (physically) miscarrying. I am in debate if that would help right now or not.

Yeah, if I got pregnant again I would keep taking the false unicorn through 1st tri but stop the other teas except vitamins. With Naden's pregnancy I started the Red Rasberry in my last month to get the ball rolling

I think right now with this pregnancy I have accepted that the baby isn't healthy and that m/c will happen. I am taking the false unicorn to help with that too along with healing and hopefully to help support a healthy pregnancy number 4. I am not going to do anything drastic with this m/c to speed it along such as taking blue or black cohosh. My bleeding isn't too bad yet so I may be a day or 2 out from the actual m/c but if the bleeding gets too heavy I may take Shepherds Purse to help control the blood. Not sure yet on that one though since I haven't much experience with it. I'd have to do a bit more research.

i am not sure what the benefits of shepherds purse are other than the vitamin values. I know it grows next to my house and that I've put it in salads before.

okay, got my book (A City Herbal, by Maida Silverman) it's been used for centuries for helping to control all kinds of internal bleeding, and the seeds used for curing scurvy (it's high in Vitamin C & K) and reducing fevers.

ooh this is interesting: it also mentions that listed in the 1955 edition of the United States Dispensatory, a fluid extract of the whole plant is supposed to have a stimulating effect on the uterine muscles and fresh preparations can help regulate menstruation, among other things.

Crap, it's the middle of winter so it's not like I can go outside and pick some! I think I'll be eating that this spring to help strengthen the uterine muscle that ruptured .

let me know if you want the full section on Shepherd's purse and I'll be happy to PM it to you.

Thanks Anne. It thought that is was an anti-hemorrhagic. You could always buy some since it's not growing right now. I think that witch hazel (not the drugstore kind) also helps with bleeding. I have a couple herb books and one of that ones that I often read is called "the childbearing year" by Susun Weed (ha, just noticed her last name. ironic) Anyway, that book has great info for just prepregnancy, pregnancy and postpregnancy herbs although she mentioned to continue to use red rasberry during pregnancy and I don't really agree with that. Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll have to read about the Lobelia you mentioned.

I heard about maca root. I restarted my chinese fertility herbal teas. They are the nastiest tasting stuff ever. But, I have noticed that when I take them my cravings for sweets and unhealthy food diminish. One of the tea's that I mix together is made from the fuzzy stuff that deers shed off their antlers. It has floaty stuff in it. Yuck. But I drink it. Worked the first time, so I am totally on board. Hats off to you danica. You can manage to mix your own stuff. I get too confused! LOL

I take my prenatal, 5mg of folic acid, BA, and just started the maca this cycle. I try not to take too much more than that, because it scares me to be taking so many different things. Now you got me googling all of the other things mentioned!
