Hi ladies!! Well, very few of you know me but my name is Ally and I was a member of the Aug due date club. Unfortunately my 11 week old twins lost their fight and I lost them on Jan 4th. My doctor gave me pills to take to expel them the following day and know wants me to wait a minimum of 8 weeks to have sex and 3-4 months before we try again.
Do these amounts of time sound about right? I don't want to overrule the doctor but my mother swears the body is at the most prone time to conceive right after a miscarriage, the cycle right after.
Thanks for any info that you could impart!!

you are the most fertile after a miscarriage, but dr's want you to wait so your uterus can return to normal and gain back strength and llining, etc... to help prepare itself for another pregnancy.

If you are wanting to conceive earlier I would call your dr.
That way they can explain the reason behind the 3-4 month waiting period.
This may help you make a more educated decision.

Good Luck

I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your twins!!!

Heather pretty much nailed it on the head. The doctor is just looking out for you when they say to wait. A miscarriage takes such a hard toll on your body, and you do need to heal physically as well as mentally and emotionally. Getting pregnant right away is usually what is on everyone's mind when they miscarry their baby, in some cases it's not the best choice/idea.

If your doctor is telling you to wait, he's telling you to wait for a good reason. He's just taking every precaution so your next pregnancy is a sticky one!!

heading your way!!!!

Your mom is right, but I would ask your doctor for an explanation before TTC earlier than he suggests. The last thing you want is back to back miscarriages. My doctor told me to wait 3 cycles before TTC, too. The waiting sucks, but if it means a healthy baby, then it's totally worth it.

I am so sorry you lost your little ones. How heartbreaking.

I agree with the other girls about your uterus going back to size and giving yourself time to heal emotionally and physically. I had a m/c on September 28th and then got pregnant again on my 3rd cycle (in December) and now am going through another m/c (but I dont think it has anything to do with the amount of time I waited). I'll probably wait a full cycle and start trying again on cycle 2. Guess I would call the doc too if you wanted an exact reason why. HUGS

I'm sorry for you losses!
I wasn't told anything about waiting on sex, but was told to wait 2 cycles before TTC again. I have one more cycle to go!

my OB recommended waiting for 2 cycles before TTC. She only restricted sex until the bleeding stopped. Which lasted about 12 days for me. Sorry about the loss of your twins.

I am so sorry for your losses!

I think you are more fertile for the first 3 months. I only waited 2 cycles for the test results to come back before we started ttc again. I didn't want to wait too long because it took us 4 1/2 yrs to get pregnant the first time.

Are you having any tests done? If so I would wait to find out the results.

I agree that you should talk to the dr. to find out why you need to wait that long!

I am sorry to hear of your loss
i lost my baby one week ago today i was 13 weeks, my doctor told me there was no medical reason to wait but that they like you to wait one cycle so they can date pg properly in the future..
This is all a bit confusing as not one doctor says what another has said.

I have decided i will not ,not to ttc as it took 18 month with this one i dont think it will happen straight away i couldnt be that lucky.

Good luck with everything i hope you get a bfp very soon followed by a healthy baby and only happy tears think we could all do with those.

HUGS
Lou
