So back in Sept, knowing that my regular insurance does not cover anything for infertility I searched around and found a discount program for the bloodwork & ultrasounds for IVF. I specifically asked the sales rep about the specific services I needed and also the specific facility I was going to use. I was assured by the sales rep that the services were covered and that the facility was a provider, and guaranteed me no less than a 30% discount (up to 70%) for those specific services & facility. sounds great, huh? I did cancel my policy after the services were done since that's all I needed the policy for.

Now, TWO freakin' months after the services I get claim forms stating my whopping discount of 4.7%. Gee, doesn't sound like 30% does it??? I only found this out bc a lady at the clinic's insurance claims office called me last night to tell me that the clinic does NOT have a contract with this discount program and therefore I would NOT be getting a discount.

So today I called the program place and said I was guaranteed this discount, so WTH??? They then told me that it is up to the individual physician (NOT the facility as I was originally told) as far as the discount for their individual contract with the program, not any guaranteed amount (also NOT what I was originally told) and that this was stated in the manual (which I did not receive right away by any means, and I had already paid for the enrollment and 1 months service by that time - I read thru the manual and I do not recall seeing that info!). And BTW, since I was now way past their 30-day refund policy, too bad for me. I expressed my disgust very thoroughly to them (without cussing, how on earth did I manage that??) and still no go. I asked, how on earth was I supposed to know I was lied to until I saw the discount??? So after them becoming quite rude, they told me to have a wonderful day to which I replied , "rot in h@))" and I filed a complaint with the BBB immediately after that call.

I don't know if anything will come of it, but as DH said, at least I did something, not just let it go.

This is awful!! I just hate that you can't trust what people say...there always seems to be the "writing in the small print" that we never read until its too late!!

I absolutely agree with that! That is really disgusting and I hope that sales rep. gets what she deserves.
