Hi there,

I found you guys because I was actually trying to deal with my feelings of loss and yep, my longing for another child.

I have a four year old daughter named Grace. She is precious and such a little miracle to us. We TTC to for 3+ years to get her. I had an uneventful pregnancy, however, I took baby aspirin daily due to my +ANA (antinuclear antibodies).

Since having her, I found out I am also positive for +ACA (anticardiolipin antibodies) as well as for the mutated gene MTHFR A1298C (hetero or single copy).

I had a miscarriage last year, which was a blighted ovum. And I just had a D&C two weeks ago because I lost my twins @ 10 weeks along. This is/was devastating to us.

I am 39 years old and honestly I am not sure if I want to try the route of TTC again. I would love love love another child, but I am fearful of a miscarriage.

Anyway, I see my Dr post D&C tomorrow and I will talk to her then. I might be joining you all, but just not sure at this point. I'll be reading up on you all though.

Hugs,

Hi! I am so glad you are joining this board, even if you decide not to TTC! It is one of the best places for support (not that the others aren't, i'm just biased bc I've been here off and on since the summer of 06). I post here more than I do in the recurrent pg loss forum. I am still waiting to m/c.

I am so sorry for your losses, it was heartbreaking to see that when I was going thru my mess.

Hello, I'm so sorry about your loss. You don't have to be in the ttc stage to be welcomed here. It's so devastating and frustrating when we lose a baby.

It's hard when we get new members becasue we know that it's due to another loss. What you will find here is an amazing group of women who always offer a shoulder and support. You'll always be welcome here.

I hope your visit goes well with the doctor tomorrow.

God bless, keeping you in my thoughts and prayers

Hi and Welcome! I just wanted to say that I know a little about the your blood clotting problems. I lost my little girl due to two different blood clotting factors. I am homozygous Mthfr and APS. I am also type 1 diabetic and PCOS. It took 4 1/2 yrs to get pregnant with my Abby and its been another 7 months of TTC since her birth/death. I am not really ttc now because of the stress, but just letting whatever happens happen.

I also just wanted to ask if they have you on folic acid? I take 5mg of folic and a BA, along with prenatal and once I get my bfp I will be on Lovenox.

These girls here are the greatest!

Thanks everyone for your warm welcome. I really do appreciate it.

Mrs Poe

Your daughter was born beautiful. I am sooo very sorry for her passing. What a precious baby.

No, but I am going to talk to my ob/gyn tomorrow @ my 2 week post D&C check up. Are you on folic acid and baby aspirin even if you aren't ttc? I have questions re: this because I heard I should be on this the rest of my life, not just when I am pregnant or TTC.

Mrs Poe, did they have you on heperin injections when you were pregnant? Or was it after that they found out about your blood disorders? I hope you don't mind me asking this question.

They wanted me to start injections @ 6 weeks, but I wanted to wait to see the Peri. By the time I saw him, I was still contemplating if I should or should not. When I went for the next u/s the baby's stopped growing very early on. I know if I ever conceive again, I will immediately take LMWH, baby aspirin and folgard.

Susan, thank you for your compliments!

Yes folic and BA are my regular meds for life, not just while ttc and pregnant.

I love answering questions, so feel free to ask away! I want to help someone else from going through what I went through.

I found out about the blood clotting disorders after we lost Abby. She was measuring perfectly at 22 weeks. I went to them at 26 weeks because she wasn't moving much. They didn't do the u/s that I wanted them to do. They told me I was fine to go on vacation in florida and when I came back and had the u/s that is when we found out we had lost her. They did testing then on me, and retested 6 weeks later and found out that I had these disorders. That is when they started me on the folic and BA, and told me that my next pregnancy would consist of Lovenox.

Just so you know a little more about the Lovenox, it is used to prevent clots...it doesn't get rid of them. They use heprin to get rid of clots, that or cumidin, but the last one isn't safe during pregnancy. So anyways it is more of a preventative measure. In the future when you get pregnant again, I strongly suggest getting the shots right away. My hematologist told me that as soon as I get the bfp that he wants me to see him to start them.

In your case, I don't think the blood clotting was an issue for losing your precious twins. According to my dr. it would almost always be a late term loss. He mentioned that the early losses are usually chromosomal abnormalities. Sometimes it is progesterone too. I know we never know for sure and there is never a GOOD reason, but we do the best that we can.

About the folgard, it is good, but you must be careful with it because it also has B vitamins in it. I suggest asking him for a prescription for folic. I get the 1mg pills and take 4 of them a day. Plus I take my prenatal that also has 1mg in it. So I take a total of 5mg's a day.

In my honest opinion, I would continue taking the BA, folic, and a prenatal. But be sure to talk to your dr. about that.

I have also had a blighted ovum. Very devastating. I am so sorry! It makes me wonder if it has something to do with blood clotting factors? hmm...guess I will never know.
