Ugh! The mere thought of taking my prenatals makes me want to vomit. I burp fish oil all day. I haven't taken them for like a week. It started when I was pregnant. I had to take them at night. Then I don't sleep well. Now, I can take them at night because I stay up til 2am. I have to start taking them so my body is ready for pregnancy in the next 2-3 mo's. I hate medication. Just hate it. Grrrrrrrr. (Its funny since I am a nurse for a living!)

I've heard so much about taking pre-natal's before pregnancy to prepare your body, but I've never taken them. I took 5 of them during my pregnancy, only because I knew I was pregnant for 5 days!

What exactly do pre-natal vitamins DO for your body???

I am still on prenates and have since my first m/c in Oct 06 Its good to be on then because it gives you all the vitamines a woman needs and it helps to just to be on them when you do get pg. Try taking them with food. That might help some. If that doesnt work tell your doctor they be able to help you.

I take mine at night too, so I don't burp up the fish oil. Fortunately, though, I have never had a problem sleeping at night after taking them. Sorry I couldn't be more help...

I'd ask for another script. My OB prescribed ones that are softer on the stomach when I was pg with DD#3 since I couldn't keep them down. If they didn't cost so much (copays stink), I'd stay on them. They were great.

Though normally I just do 2 flintstones until I know I'm pg and switch over to prenates. This is the first TTC that I'm still on them.

they give your body more nutrients bc when you are pg, your body goes thru MUCH more of these nutrients growing the little bean, especifically the folic acid and B6. Part of it is to nourish the baby, but part of it is to nourish you too bc without them (depending on your diet) you may be running on "low".
Personally I like the cheapies from Walmart. They are a 2 pill serving so they aren't too huge to take, and are coated with something that tastes like a vanilla milkshake.

I really need to get some OTC ones. I want to start back taking them now. I don't know if I will get actual prenatals or just flinestones for now and some fish oil/omega ones. I do hate that fishy burp though, it just comes from nowhere and hits you.

Eewww...fish oil burps?! I just take some brand X ones from Walmart. They are pretty big, but they certainly don't taste like fish. I think if you just switched to a diff brand you'd feel better....or you could try the Flintstones...those are yummy!

I can't take prenatals either. When I was pregnant with Naden they prescribed me some chewable ones but after a while I gagged at the thought of those too. Honestly you can just take a multi and extra folic. It's the same thing. My doctor agreed that it was fine and dandy when I told her that is what I was doing.

Country Life (brand at any natural food store) make a yummy chewable adult mulitvitamin that I like. You may be able to handle that better.

yum, chewables! I swear the metagenics onse have 6 or 8 pills because it includes the epa, dha omegas. Like today... I skipped them. Actually, I forget, and I can't take them late. I have to wake up at 530am for work. 12hr shifts seem incredibly long when you are sleep deprived.

I have the OneSource prenates from Walmart. I take them better when I'm not pregnant I can't hold them down when I am. I tried to take the Expecta Lipil too, but that had the fish oil burps occasionally. I got to the point where I didn't even finish swallowing them before puking though, so I stopped.

My Dr. gave me a sample of a chewable prescription one, but those made me puke too.

So, yeah, I'm a lost cause.

I do the One Source prenatals from Walmart too. When I was taking them while TTC the first time I didn't realize you had to take two of them! Whoops! And there I was thinking how cool it was that they were so small.

I also take a fish oil supplement and I do get the burps on occasion, but I try to take everything late at night so I don't get that. I don't have a problem with pills though.

My Dh on the other hand is a big baby and I had to get him Flintstones vitamins. Even now he probably only takes it once or twice a week because he doesn't think about it. Better than nothing I guess.
