I was just wondering if any of you have had a problem with ovarian cysts? I have one that is starting to get very painful, and I know that's normal. But how much pain is too much. It has been going on for 9 days now, and getting a little worse. It is really starting to bother me. I don't feel like I can get enough done at home, because it hurts so bad. When I lay down for a while it feels better, but as soon as I get busy again, it hurts. I just lost my insurance 2 days ago , so kinda in a pickle right now, and trying to avoid going to the Dr. unless really necessary. Any advice?

I don't know much about cysts.... but if the pain is interferring (sp?) with everyday life.... I would say at least a call to your doctor would be a good idea. They will be able to tell you how much pain is normal and what can be done... if anything if it gets too bad.

I am sorry you are stuck right now with no insurance. I went without it for about 10 months and it sucked

I hope you feel better soon!

Does it hurt on only one side? What side? How do you know that it is a cyst, was an u/s done to confirm that? 9 days seems a little long for the pain, however mine always hurt before af would show up, probably about a week or possibly two. It was a dull aching though, almost like af cramps.

If you are sure you have some cysts, you might try to get on bcp for a month or two because that is said to shrink the cysts. And you could get the bcp from any planned parenthood or free clinic.

Sorry I could be of much help.

Mine started hurting a few days before AF was due (this was last summer). I figured it was a cyst bc it felt the same as the cyst I'd had when pg last Feb (that one was found on u/s). But then AF was really bad pain-wise, and the cyst-pain never went away. It wasn't awful unless I had AF but it was always THERE, KWIM? I asked my dr about it and he said if I had 3 bad AF's in a row then we needed to do something. He did an u/s and said it was scar tissue, and I needed surgery to take care of it. But when he got in there, both ovaries were polycystic (new condition for me!!) and the one that had been hurting was really fully of cysts.

hope you can get it taken care of!! They would have just put me on bcp to take care of it if it weren't for the scar tissue.

Thanks everyone for the info. I am pretty sure it is a cyst, but haven't had u/s for this one. I had an u/s on the 14th and there was fluid from a ruptured cyst, but she didn't say anything about a new one. The pain started right after I Oed and I've read that a lot of women get them after O. So I just figured it was another one. I hope it heals on it's own. It is doing much better today. DH has made me stay on the couch all day though. We will see how it feels tomorrow, when I have to do all the housework and stuff again. Probably the thing that concerns be most is that we have bee BDing, and I have a lot of preggo signs (shooting pains in bbs, nausea, tired, etc.). I don't what to think right now, but more than likely I will be making a trip to the DR. It shouldn't take long to get Ins. back. Thanks again.
