So I stopped by Dollar Tree this morning when I was picking up my daughter from kindergarten, only to find all the HPTs removed and a note saying they were now being kept up front and that you would have to ask for them (Nice - who wants to ask for 10 tests, please... ) I said something to the cashier about them being kept up front now, and he told me that they've been having a real problem with the tests being stolen and that's why they moved them. I laughed and said 'It's not like a buck is unreasonable' but apparently for some people, even that is too much. Go figure!

Oh my goodness. They may prevent theft but it will also cut back on their sales because like you said, who wants to ask for 10 hpt's? I would be embarrassed to ask for 5 and I usually buy 5 or 6 at a time. And I wouldn't want to go back for more the next month because I'd be embarrassed. ERR Some people ruin it for us all. If you can't affort a dollar store test than go to a center and get tested for free. They are probably just selling them online or something.

So I am glad to hear you picked up more tests though When can we expect the next round of results?

Next round - tomorrow morning... I figure it'll be an everyday event until I'm either 100% sure or AF shows.

That's hilarious! People can't afford to spend a dollar on a HPT, but they might be bringing a baby into the world!

Being from a small town, I can explain this.

Teenage girls who are messing around with guys but don't want anyone to know and *think* that they might be pregnant, but don't want the "embarrassment" of being seen buying a pregnancy test.

I can't tell you how many empty hpt boxes I found behind the bags of dog food in the pets dept at Walmart when I was working there.

I even found a negative one in the bathroom there once, when I was on my period.

At first all the $stores here had them like that. At least the one by my house now has them on an aisle.

I used to work at Walmart and you would always see stolen HPT in the bathroom.

Food Lion (grocery store) I know used to keep the condoms behind the counter because of theft. I know it's a loss in sales, but I would rather they steal them then not use them.

I cannot begin to count the number of times I've gotten home with my
$ store HPT's and OPK's only to find I have an empty box...

I look like a fool shaking the boxes now...but I usually get home with my stuff!!!
LOL!

I've had the same problem of getting home and there being NOTHING in the box. It really ticked me off...I think behind the counter is almost the same as being on the aisle as I would get strange looks from the cashier as she was ringing 10 up...LOL. I felt I was ALWAYS explaining myself!

Yep, I am from a small town and I remember one of my classmates got busted for shoplifting pregnancy tests from Wal-mart. It was always an issue with teenagers.

Crazy though.. I can't imagine doing that!

I would get strange looks too, but I think that was more because I had Erin with me! Buying pregnancy tests when I had a 4 month old baby was interesting. What can I say, I have pregochondria!

The HPTs at my $store are behind the counter too. I felt kinda wierd when I first went in there asking for them, but this last time, the older cashier lady just wanted to talk about how great the tests were and how she wished they had had them when she was having kids lol

When I first saw the $store test I thought OMG how cheap can you get! I wouldn't trust that for nothing.

That was a LONG time ago. Long before TTC, before I knew that they work and pretty dang well. Long before I met all these POAS addicts!

Now I will be in there stocking up too!
