So, check this out. This is crazy. I had my MD check my thyroid and run tests for hashimoto's because I have these symptoms that make me think my thyroid is off. The MD wanted to check my vitamin D. Apparently it can affect all kinds of things in your body if your are low. Mine is low. So, now I am on extra vitamin d and calcium. I get my levels checked again in a couple of months. Apparently decreased levels of vitamin D can cause problems with weight gain, parathyroid issues, osteomalacia, and certain cancers. Oh, and you have an increased risk for heart disease, stroke, and it raises your cholesterol. I guess it's fairly common that its an overlooked deficiency. atleast I have some answer as to why I gained weight this last year.

That is good that she/he ran the test. It's good to know. Especially since if you don't have vit D than you probably aren't absorbing much calcium. Yay for yet another vitamin to take though

I guess I need to get more sunlight on top of it all. Which is strange since I live in sunny california! My girlfriend told me to to tell DF that the doctor told me to quite work and spend my days at the beach! I am for it!

Glad your doctor did those tests and found the deficiency! Were you cleared for thyroid problems?

Make sure you have some wireless internet available for when you're spending your days at the beach lol

Well, thats a funny thing. Newest research says that TSH level at 3 should be considered hypothyroid. When my OB tested me, it was 3. My internist the most recent blood work, and my TSH is 2.9. So, if you ask me, I have thyroid issue's. Now I just have to find an endocrinologist that agrees with the new research. I spoke to Lisa B about it, and she had heard about the new ranges for TSH. Whatever is going on, I seem to have some endocrine thing happening.
