so they aren't recommending the med oh well. they want to see what my body does this week since I've had a little bit of cramping & tiny bit of brown spotting and also to go in Friday for a repeat u/s and HCG quant to see what the changes are. So if I haven't m/c by next weekend on my own they are planning on an ultrasound-guided D&C sometime next week so they can see exactly what they are doing and where they are going in there. From the way he talked about it, it didn't sound like that was the normal procedure to use an u/s during it??? I don't know, I've never had a D&C before. Do they knock me out? Or am I awake thru it?

I'm sorry Anne, I know you were looking forward to getting the show on the road...only to wait longer. I haven't had a D&C, but I don't think you are awake for it. But I'm not totally sure. It sounds like whatever they do, they will be very careful, which is reassuring!

sorry they wont give you the med!
for my D&C they knocked me right out!! I would NOT want to be awake during that.
Maybe they would do an u/s during yours because or your last ectopic and wanting to be more careful? I know with a D&C there is a small risk of uterine perforation, and since you already had a problem, they probably want to be more careful

I made my ob do an ultrasound guided d & c the 2nd time around. I miscarried had a d and c and then a month later had retained tissue. So I told him the only way I was letting him do it again was to have the ultrasound while he was doing the d and c to make sure he got it done the second time. Good luck. And they do put you to sleep. But it will be a MAC. Which basically means they will give you some medication to put you to sleep but you will not be intubated.

Sorry you can't take the meds
I had a D&C and like everyone else said, you are put out while they do it. Overall, the procedure is not too bad and it really sounds like your doctors will be taking good care of you!
KUP Anne!

I had a D&C and it was not bad at all.. but make sure they put you out- I have had 2 friends that were awake for theirs and said it was a horrible experience just b/c you could hear what was going on even though they put headphones on them. But overall, I would definitely have the D&C again if given the choice. It was quick and not physically painful in any way.
I hope it happens soon for you on its own though. KUP..

I was awake for mine. I vote for being knocked out. My OB thought she perforated my bladder or bowel. She hadn't though! Good thing.

I hope it doesnt come to a D&C for you... but really they are not NEARLY as painful as a natural miscarriage is.... so if it comes to that, maybe its for the best.
and they will give you a choice to be knocked out or given a spinal.. id go with being knocked out.. thats what i did, and at least then i had an excuse to sleep for the rest of the day!

well I can't have a spinal so I guess I'll be knocked out then. I just hope this hurries up!!! It is kind of weird to want a pg to end but I don't even know if I classify it as a pg in my mind anymore . . . more so just a medical condition that needs to be taken care of.

I can't imagine how you feel. When I found out I had lost the baby I had a D&C 2 days later, but that waiting felt like an eternity. I wanted it out of my body.. I just couldn't hardly stand to think about it. It's just hard to get over it and on with your life when it's still lingering.
I hope something happens soon.. and if you do end up with a D&C, trust me, it's not that bad. I thought the experience overall was very positive considering the circumstances.

I also had a d & c 4 days after my m/c. They knocked me out. I was a nervous wreck going in, but it was over before I even knew what happened. I didn't have any bad feelings about it. I would have one again if I ever had to. Good luck whatever they do. KUP I will be praying for you.
