I went in for surgery yesterday at 7:10am, and they did my prepping. Finally, at 9:11am, I was taken into the operating room and at 9:15am, the anesthesia was administered. I do not remember anything until I heard the nurses say I was staying overnight, rather than going home. That was 10:15am. As it was only a diagnostic laparoscopy, I was supposed to go home, but during the procedure, they hit my bowel and a blood vessel burst, so my bowel got bruised. They decided to keep me overnight for observation to make sure it didn't get worse. I was also refused food and water, but kept on an IV of Lactated Ringer. I was also administered demerol, toradol, gravol and antibiotics. I didn't eat for 36 hours. I have three incisions, one in my belly button, one to my left, and one right underneath my belly button. They hurt like heck. On the ironic side, the woman that I was in a room with was in for a hysterectomy, and we were both put in the maternity ward. But what's ironic is that we have the same doctor, and she lives right across the street from me.
Anyway, diagnosis is endometriosis. I go back to see my OB/GYN in 2 weeks for a treatment plan.
I'll be AWOL again. I need to rest. I'll be back in a few days.

I'm glad they figured out what was wrong. Unfortunately, they only cure is a hysterectomy. Fortunately, I don't need that right now.

I am so sorry all that happened to you, too. At least you know the problem now. Hopefully they can get it taken care of w/o a hysterectomy. Good luck! I hope you feel better.

Glad the surgery went *fairly well* and that you have a definite diagnosis.
Hope your doctor has some great ideas for you so you get a BFP quickly when you start TTC again!
Get some rest and feel better soon!

Thanks for the support everyone. I appreciate it. What sucks most is that the only cure for endometriosis is a hysterectomy, and I'm not ready to lose my uterus. Thankfully, it's not advanced enough that I'd have to. It's just going to be a lot harder to get pregnant, to carry, and I have an increased risk of ectoptic pregnancies in the future. That, and I'm only 21. I have a friend who lost her uterus to endometriosis at the age of 25, but she has two beautiful children. Hopefully I'll have another one. Once I do, I'll ask for a hysterectomy, because I'll be done having children, and I don't want to live with this pain for the rest of my life.
