Aww, thanks for wishing me luck.

The appointment was a big waste of time though. I felt like the doc was just there to take money for tests. Basically he started the conversation out by saying "I've reviewed your record so what questions can I answer for you?" I thought great, this is going to be a one way conversations. He wasn't helpful at all. He said that obviously we can get pregnant and blighted ovum pregnancies are almost always genetic abnormalities. The three tests he offered its to check for fibroids (HSG), check Travis' and my genetics to make sure we have the right number of chromosomes, or immunology test but he said that he does not feel I have these issues, like blood clotting disorder, because we had a successful uneventful pregnancy and that women with this issue will typically have issues especially in the 2nd and 3rd tri. I asked what he could do if they found a fibroid and he said surgery or hope that it doesn't get in the way next time. I said I wasn't interested in surgery and so he said that it would be a waste to do the test then. He said that they genetics tests for Travis' and my chromosomes but they to check for specific disorders and so even if they found an issue they would just initially put me on clomid so I make more eggs and have a better chance of making a good egg. I wasn't interested in that either right now. So that was it. He said, you look frustrated, did I not answer your questions. I said, what about progesterone level checks? He said that progesterone is an old way of thinking and it doesn't make a difference because when depending on when they check your levels you could have just had a surge and that they fluctuate throughout the day... BUT if you want to pay for progestrone because it will make you feel better I can write a prescription. What the flip? I just wanted out of there. The weather was terrible and I had to drive all the way downtown. Was 20 minutes late and Naden threw an absolute fit when the doc came in because we had been waiting in the room 45 minutes. I am just really disappointed. He basically handed me a price list and circled tests + cost and left it up to me for what I wanted to do. I just felt like they just take orders and your money. The genetics test is 160.00 per person. I can't stand this insurance with Kaiser and plan to go back to Pacificare next year when we can change it. I am trying really hard not to obsess and keep my mind preoccupied with other things. It is just hard. I plan to try this next cycle and then take the next one off since I am trying to avoid a December birthday. Anyway, thanks for listening to me ramble.

Aww...sorry it was such a bad experience. Golly he didn't give you much help or options. Was he through Kaiser or were you paying out of pocket? Maybe you could try a different doctor and see if you get a better response. How did Travis feel about the whole thing?

I'm sorry the appt didn't go well. It seems to me that they just want money not to try to help people. Well, I wish I could say something that would make you feel better. Good luck this time around though

Travis said I told you it would be a waste of time which irritated me more cause he was completely right all along. UGH

Kaiser is stupid. They have their own facilities, you have to see their doctors, go to their hospitals and use their pharmacy and stuff. It's like a big club. Naden is in occupational therapy for his eating issues and I had to fight with them to write a referral to the children's hospital so he could see an OT. At that they only gave him 6 visits. This is for a boy who is almost 2 years old and who still only eats baby food. Guess they think that is normal. *rolls eyes* Guess you get what you pay for. Changing our plans saved us over $1000 per year but I would gladly pay the extra money to go back to our old doctors. Plus if I get pregnant I don't have to go to the getto hospital downtown to deliver.

The thing with reproductive endocronology is that even though it is with Kaiser it is considered a specialist so I have to pay half of whatever the total cost is. I was looking at the paper and it says that IUI costs $81..? Why is that so cheap but it will cost us 160 per person for the genetic test? ERRRR

How irritating. It seems like an RE would be more compassionate and helpful. But on the upside at least he didn't seem too concerned. I mean it sounds like he was implying that your previous losses fall into that category of the normal percentage of pg that end in m/c and that because you had one healthy pg already that there really isn't a "problem". I don't know if that makes you feel better cause it's kinda like you want to know something just so it can be fixed but I def believe that nothing being "wrong" is better than something.

I will tell you though that my dr after my m/c in Oct told me that the risk of a 2nd m/c within the 3-6 months after the first m/c is very common and is one of the reasons you are told to wait a while in between. Of course it's supposedly easier to get pg after a pg or m/c as well. I can't remember how many months there was between yours but just something that made me feel a little better since I had that chemical in Dec after my m/c in Oct.

I"m sorry you didn't get any answers, but my dr told me the same thing about progestrone as well she said it doesn't make a difference and that if i wanted the supositories(sp) then she would give them to me if it made me feel better. So i'm right there with ya, i did every test and nothing is wrong with me. I'm supposed to get the HSG as well on the 19th but my period isnt here but i don't think i have anything wrong with my up there since i have two children. And i hear that fibroids are painfull and i have no pain in that area. So i know how frustrating it can be, If you ever need to talk i'm always a PM away

I'm sorry you didn't get anywhere or anything from the doc. He sounds like he doesn't care about his patients, just what they can dish out for payment!

I know I've had appts like that where you just basicaly paid to waste your time bc the dr's aren't very helpful, and seem like they don't care.

I hope you can get some better answers soon!!!

Ugghhh Danica Sounds like a big waste of time. I was hoping for better news from your appt and I know you were too.

I just hope you get a sticky BFP soon and then you don't ever have to deal with him again!

I call the MD's at kaiser "kaiserfied". They rush you in, rush you out. I think they offer subprime care. At work, they give us kaiser as an option. It's like $12 a month. I chose BC at the rate of $112 a month. Reasonable healthcare is important to me. I am sorry you have to deal with them. Hopefully you can change soon.

I'm sorry you had such a frustrating appointment.

My doctor also said it was pointless to test my progesterone. She said the only thing they could do would be to do some sort of test to check my uterine lining during the luteal phase to make sure it was normal, but she didn't recommend doing it after one loss. She also said I'd have to prevent pregnancy if they did that test because it could cause a miscarriage. I've got progesterone to take when I do get pregnant in case it is a problem.
