so I mailed off the complaint to the MN Board of Nursing today and at the strong urging of the guy I talked to at the MN Board of Medical Practice I started contacting and leaving messages for attorneys. We just heard back from one, he said that because it isn't a very high dollar amount, less than 20,000 - 30,000 that pretty much a lawyer won't sue the hospital for that little (I guess "little" is relative to how much money you make

), and although they WERE negligent, and their negligence cost us extra $$, the end result of the health of my uterus is the same so THAT part isn't a permanent injury resulting from their negligence (you have to have a permanent injury as a direct result from their negligence to successfully sue in the first place). But they said we were in the right to go after them for that extra cost, which is all we are trying to do anyway!
he said our best route is to start with the MN Board of Nursing/MN Board of Medical Practice (which we've already done) and then to call the hospital billing dept when the bill comes in and tell them what we are NOT paying for based on their negligence and then if the hospital turns around and sues us for that amount, then we bring a lawyer into the mix and that's probably where/when we'll be successful, but we'd have to wait until that point to get the bill out from over our heads.
So we're taking the right steps but it's going to be a long haul.

I bet the hospital isn't counting on me NOT letting this go!

After all I'm not trying to get them to rescind
all the charges, nor am I trying to get extra $$ from them, I just want the hospital stay, the transfusion, and all the resulting bloodwork from that (and the UTI they were nice enough to give me

) taken off the bill.
the guy was super nice and said we could call with ANY questions during the process.
