im really sorry... i suppose its for the best.. you dont want to risk infection..
he probably just said suctioning because that is how they get the tissue out.. and then they scrape the uterine wall to clear it of anything left over...
I had a follow up d&c after my miscarriage...
the recovery isnt to bad.. it took me a good week to really feel pretty normal and then another week to really feel back to myself... I bled for about 7-8 days i think... some people bleed longer or shorter.. it just depends on the person.
If they give you the option tell them you want to go under all the way.. they might offer you a spinal, but then you are awake for the whole thing.. and that can just be really hard...
anyways.. good luck... and i hope you have lots of help for the next couple of days! youll need to be laying down for at least two days.. at least in my opinion...

Tosha.... I am so sad for you. This just sucks
About the D&C I have had two now. One was to complete my m/c that refused to end on it's own and one was for a Polyp. Both times I have to say it was one of the easiest things I have done as far as medical crap goes. The worst part for me was when they put the IV in. You know I hate needles
They totally knocked me out and honestly I just wanted to keep sleeping. The cramping can be a little bit bad at first. If you are in pain ask for a pain killer. Don't try and be strong if you are cramping. The entire procedure takes 20-30 minutes. You will feel like you were asleep for 8 hours. Some people wake up crying without even realizing it. Don't be frightened if you do, it's normal.
I wish I could take this pain away for you. If you need anything just ask.
Hugs and let tomorrow be over fast vibes coming your way.....

My D&C was mostly a positive experience and went smoother than I expected. I woke up very alert out of recovery and felt groggy but pretty good the rest of the day. I recovered physically very quickly. I did have some intense cramping not long after I woke up but they kept giving me meds until it eased up, and then I was ok.
I hope yours goes well tomorrow. I am so sorry!!

I also had a d&c last August after my m/c. Physically it was very easy. They knocked me out and I don't remember anything but being wheeled into the room. Then I woke up and it was over. I didn't have very much cramping and only bled slightly for about 5-6 days. I know none of this is easy, but I hope you do well. I will be thinking of you tomorrow and praying for a speedy recovery. If you need anything, just ask. We love you, Tosha!!!!

 Im so sorry tosha
I would definately request to be knocked out for your D&C!!
I had one in july and was knocked out, when I woke up I was a wreck, as I knew my baby was now out of me for sure.
I bled for 5 weeks (im not the norm though, usually ppl say its about a week) and I did have cramping for about a week or two.

ty all this helps. i havent even seen my son all day u know how harsh that is in its own. and now i feel a sore throught comeing on thats great i cant take anything for it i guess so i guess salt water right will help it i cant eat anything all ready and after midnight i cant drink the good part is that ill be the first one in there. i just want tomm. to hurry and come and get over with if that makes any sense at all i know ill hurt more. but at least one less medical thing to thank of right now u know when i was at the drs. office u know what hurt most was seeing the pregnant women in there i wanted to ball there was even a young teenage mom in there that looked like she was ready to pop. dont get me wrong allways happy to see that. and then they put me in a room where next door i hear the most beautiful sound and we all know what that is a babys heartbeat and that made the tears wanna come faster. but i held it together for a bit longer i know gotta come out but im so tierd of crying.

I sort of know how you are feeling right now. I got my first shots of methotrexate for my suspected ectopic pregnancy on Monday. They did an ultrasound to see if the egg was in my tubes, but could find nothing...anywhere. Yet my HCG levels were hovering around 40 for a week. I have not experienced much cramping since the shots, or increased bleeding. I wonder if it even worked. I go back tomorrow for another HGC test.
If this shot doesn't work, I don't know what they'll do. I'm sure, like me, you just want this to be over with. It sucks, waiting.
I hope the best for you, please keep us posted.

Tosha I am soooo sorry that things ended up this way. When I had my D&C with Samantha I thought it would be worst then it really was. I cramped a bit before I went it, they said I was having some contractions. I hate needles to but they have numbing stuff now and I didnt even feel them put it in at all. I was put ALL the way under and I just remember waking up and started crying because I knew she was gone. I bleed for a week and a half and was tired a bit for the rest of that day and the next but then I was ok. I really hope that the whole things goes as ok as it can. I feel sooo bad for you that you are having to go through all this. I wouldnt wish this on my worst eneime (sp). We are all here for you whatever you need. Just make sure to rest tomorrow.
ETA: I just watched that video and it brought tears to my eyes. It makes me miss Samantha more then I ever thought I would.
