hi ladies

I just thought i would find out what you ladies think about this

after my m/c i did some research and found a condition called Habitual Abortions, women who suffer multiple miscarriages are said to have this. one of the cause for multiple losses are due to levels of progesterone droping while the embryo is forming thus causing the body to expell and go into labour. I do understand that chromisonal abnormalities cause m/c but i dont think multiple miscarriages are covered by that unless you have been tested and are confirmed with a genetic abnormality or Rh factor problems...

i was just wondering if any of you ladies use progesterone cream or will consider using it?

i got myself a tub of it yesturday and i will use it as soon as i find out im pregnant. gynaes have said that you cant overdose on it but you should use the recommeded amount. also there is no significant evidence taht it works due to experiments being inconclusive - what women would want to be the control and lose her baby because she cant use progesterone that will probably save her baby????? anyway

i just thought because there are so many women with multiple losses here, if this would maybe help?

i myself feel my body just expelled my baby as he had a perfect heart beat and when the bleeding started to get heavy he started to strain and the heart begain to become irregular... how can that be chromisonal??

anyway let me know what your thoughts are

luv ya

I have heard of a lot of women who use progesterone in the 1st tri. When I get pregnant again, that will be one of the things that my doctor will be testing.

As far as using it on your own, I really don't know that much about it, so I really can't help with that. Hopefully someone else on here can help with that!

I will be using progesterone as well, but I really want to warn you about using stuff on your own. I know there is natural and synthetic progesterone. I think the stuff they sell over the counter could be the synthetic. Not sure, but I would call my doc and ask for a prescription. Also, have you thought about taking baby aspirin?

Baby aspirin thins your blood just enough (81mg only). Sometimes, blood clots can cause mc's, so I know a lot of ladies take baby aspirin as a precaution.

I've never taken the progesterone cream. My first m/c was due to chromosomes...missing the "Y" and didn't developed a sex. The second was due to a blood clot in my uterus. But I am on baby aspirin, B-6, folic acid and prenatal vit. And when I get pregnant again, I will be on Heparin injections thru out the pregnancy.

I was tested for everything, clotting disorders, thyroid, chromosones, lupus, and other test all are normal for me and DH. The dr gave me 100mg progesterone suppositories to use twice a day when i get pregnant next so i would be on 200mg a day. I wouldn't use cream i would go and talk to the dr and if they think you need it then i would take it. I wouldn't take anything your not sure you actually need. My Dr is waiting to try this with us since everything is normal. I don't have a clotting factor so i don't need baby asprin or heprin.

I want to be tested for progesterone defficiancy when I become pg again- However, i still have absolutly no idea why I m/c. I would've thought that if it was due to progesterone my body would've expelled the baby, or atleast tried to. But I never had any signs of a m/c. No bleeding cramping... nothing.
I saw and heard the heart beat at 7.4 weeks, but they measured the baby at only 8weeks when i SHOULD have been 11.5 weeks at a later appointment.

Here's what happened with me:

Around 6 weeks, no heartbeat, progesterone was only 8.5, started prescription progesterone suppositorys

7 weeks, baby had heartbeat

8 weeks, baby lost heartbeat

So in my case I don't really know that low progesterone was the problem. BUT my doctor said she will give it to me for the next pregnancy, right when I get pregnant, just in case. It is one of those won't hurt, might help, type of things. I think it is something you should talk to your doctor about.
