I just had a miscarriage 6 weeks into my first pregnancy. At 5 weeks and a few days my hcg was only 451 and 2 days later it was down to 315 or so. A week later, this Wed, it was already down to 19.5. I have to get checked again next week, but assume it'll be down to zero.

I feel great emotionally and physically. Since I was only 6 weeks (date wise, nor hormonally) when I lost the pregnancy and my hormones weren't ever high, I can't decide if we should try again right away or not. It took us a year to get pregnant the first time. Because of that, I feel like there is such a small chance of us getting pregnant this cycle it doesn't matter if we try or not. Also, my hormones were so low, I don't feel like my body really needs a rest. The nurse practitioner suggested we wait a cycle, but I'm really leery to do that. I can't imagine wasting a cycle when it took us a year the first time.

Has anyone else here tried the first cycle after a miscarriage? Did you get pregnant? Did you miscarry again?

There are women who have gotten pg on their first cycle some before they even got AF back. Most Drs tell you to wait at least one cycle though. My Dr said to wait until I "had 2 good periods"

First off, I am sorry for your loss.

I did go ahead and wait 1 cycle, although I also had a D&C.

But, like Jenn said, there are plenty of women on here who did go ahead and try right away.

Good luck whichever way you decide to go! And please stick around here, we'd love to get to know you!

Its really up to you.. they tell you to wait for 2 reasons mostly.. the biggest reason is for dating the pregancy, its easier to date with a LMP.

2nd reason is because your chances of miscarrying again do go up, but only by a few %s.. not sure of the exact number..

I personally waited one cycle because if id gotten pregnant and something had happened again i would have blaimed it on trying to soon and would have felt really horrible.

i ended up getting pregnant on the third cycle of trying.

I'm in the same boat as you. I had a m/c 3wks ago (today) and was 6wks and 2d. I just saw my dr and he said to wait 1 cycle and I could then ttc again. I didn't have to have a d&c. I feel pretty good and am so ready to start ttc. I am waiting for AF to show, hopefully next week, but in the mean time we haven't been preventing anything either. It sounds like you are ready so it is up to you. This was my first pregnancy too. We have been ttc since sept o7. What ever you decide to do GOOD LUCK!!!! And I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry about your loss.

We were told to wait 3 cycles. We were 11 weeks along and I ended up with a d&c. We decided to just go with the flow and if it happened it happened.

Personally, I would just go with how you feel. Give yourself some time to greive. I know when I lost my baby all I thought was......I just want to be pregant again. I don't know if it sounds crazy but I just thought that if I was pregnant, it will help me deal with my loss easier.

God bless hun

I had my miscarriage on Feb 8th.. and no, I did not wait... I can't tell you yet if I am pg (I am waiting to test), but my doctor said w/ a natural miscarriage they recommend that you do wait; however, there is no scientific evidence to show (w/ one natural miscarriage) that you are more likely to have another.

The only thing I can say is that it is really hard to determine when you ovulate and the date of conception (Which is important to know for testing)... Good Luck!!

I'm sorry for your loss. I m/c at 7wk. I had to have a d&c. My doctor advised to wait for 1 cycle. I can't tell you what to do. You have to do what you think is best for you. I wish you all the luck with whatever you decide.
