When your LO is in school do you plan to make them do their homework when they get home or can they choose when to do it?

My mom always wanted me to do it right after school, so i could just get it out of the way and play all afternoon but i always wanted to play first. When i played first though and waited until after dinner i would procrastinate or run out of time.

I always did it when I got home, sometimes to get out of doing the dishes Once I got to homework age it was just me home with my brother and sister (5th grade-ish) for the few hours after school. And that's what I'll expect from my kids as well. Bedtime was fairly strictly enforced growing up and we tend to be the same way here. So if your homework isn't done and it's bedtime, too bad.

It depends on how they are feeling after school. Sometimes my dd needs to lay down for a bit because she is tired. Most of the time we do homework right after school, but if she needs to lay down then it is done right after dinner.

When they're little, I'll probably have them do it right when they get home. But as they get older, they can choose when to do it as long as they get it done on time.

My mom always set the timer and made me do it at the kitchen table while she cooked dinner. I got some time to have a snack and play a little immediately after school, but if she didn't time me then I would day dream until it was too late. No wonder I got to be a little too obsessive with time..

I'm not sure what I'll do with the girls. Lily seems a bit flighty like I was. She might need a set time to do her homework.
