What did you do with your maiden name? Drop it completely? Make it your Middle name? Add it to your middle name?
I decided when i got married i didnt want to get rid of my middle name or last name so I am Samantha middle name, maiden name (both are legal middle names) then my last name (dhs last name)

If I remember correctly, Michigan is ridiculous and won't (wouldn't at the time?) let you have 2 middle names on your ID. I remember someone I know complaining about it because she didn't want to hyphenate but she didn't want to lose either name legally either. Anyway, I debated it for a long time and decided to just drop it. I like my middle name better than my maiden name

I think i was over sensitive about losing either of my names since my middle name is after my dads sister and of course my last name was a part of my dad since he had just died 10 months before i got married. But, my mom also did the same thing with her name so it always seemed natural to me to do it. My sister did the same thing

I dropped my maiden name completely. It's funny because now my last name is the same as my mom's (she kept her maiden name as her last name) and her side of the family. Most Koreans have 1 of 6 last names and mine is the most common of them all But when I went to Social Security to change it, the lady reading my form was like "did you marry your brother" since my mom's last and DH's are the same Both DH and I can trace our roots in Korea back to the time of the Mongols invading Korea in the 1200s and there is no link between our families that we've found. There probably is somewhere way back though...that's a long time not to mix somewhere. But his family is from way south and my Korean side is mainly from way up north in what is now North Korea anyway. And I just totally went off tangent there

Mine is First name Middle name Maiden name Married name. SS only recognizes the first three names so I have to file under my maiden name.

I dropped my middle name and made my maiden name my legal middle name now. I didn't want to take DH's last name though. It took me about 6 months before I finally decided to change it

What do you mean? My SS card has all four names? or do you mean for benefits they do it differently?

No my SS card has all my names, but when we file taxes they only accept the first three, so my maiden name becomes my last name for tax purposes.

Strange!
I think i just figured out why i'm confused, when we file they ask my middle initial and i usually just say "G" because both my middle names start with G. Thats probably why i didnt realize that...

I kept my maiden name for 4 years after we were married. I didn't change it until after Lily was born and I wanted us all to have the same last name. I dropped my maiden name completely then .

I got married back in 2009, I still haven't changed my last name. On FB I put both there, but I think I will just drop my maiden name and use Dh's so we can all have the same last name. I was really sensitive about losing my maiden name, but no one pronounces it right anyway and I do like Dh's last name.

I don't know if it's just where I'm from, but I've never know anyone who's kept their maiden name as a middle name. We can have more than one last name, legally, and many people hyphenate both last name (or more!)...but I just dropped mine and took DH's.

I dropped my maiden name---it's really hard to spell and pronounce. I took dh's mainly because when we had kids I wanted us all to have the same name. If we weren't planning on kids, I probably would have kept my maiden name.

I dropped my maiden name and took DH's. It kinda sucks because now my last name is hard to pronounce and spell correctly.

I dropped it. My maiden name was a very long, Italian name that no one could pronounce. Now everyone just asks if I'm related to Britney? lol

I hated my maiden name. It was Spears. Everyone always asked if I was related to Britney, or they would call me Britney. I took my dh's name, and I really like it.

I just want to make sure i'm clear - i'm not talking about what your last name is.... i'm talking about what you did with your maiden name

Ha! You know my pain. But believe me, Spears is much better than my maiden. At least people can say and spell it. Honestly, no one ever asks about Britney anymore.
