As if the next few months aren't crazy enough with holidays, girl scout stuff, major cub scout stuff, our families coming out to see the new baby, preparing for Chris to deploy, and - of course - having the baby... we've decided to buy a house.
We've looked off and on over the years but we were never in a rush to buy. We always said if we found the perfect home for the right price we'd do it. We've been at this base for 6.5 years and haven't bought a house yet. I am TIRED of renting, and when we think how much we've spent on rent over the past 8 years it makes us sick.
We happened to drive by a home that looked nice and so we called to set up a walk through. Chris got on Zillow and found 6 other homes that looked decent and called to walk through those as well. We figured we'd walk through the homes but didn't think we'd find any that worked for us. We are VERY picky. There has to be at least two living spaces like a living room/family room. It has to have a formal dining room, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. The rooms have to be bigger than 10x10 and the master has to be big with a master bath and walk in closet. The yard has to be large for the kids and dog. We have to have natural sunlight and lots of it. If there is a fireplace it HAS to be wood, and not gas/electric. The garage has to be a 2 car garage, and when you walk into the home you can NOT walk straight into the living room - I hate that!

The first house we looked at was weird. The yard was gorgeous, and the house was so charming. The inside needed A LOT of work and I just knew I would be depressed in that home, so we said no.
The second home was PERFECT. I fell in love immediately. It wasn't even the house we originally wanted to look at and I didn't think I'd like it. It fit ALL of our requirements and then some. We can even convert it to a 5 bedroom pretty easily.
The other homes were nice but needed too many upgrades to put them where we wanted.
So... we put an offer on house number 2! I am so nervous but so excited!
We'd close Feb. 1st, my mom is coming Feb. 3rd, and the baby is supposed to come around Feb. 7th.We are nuts.

The kitchen and basement need a LOT of work, but it's doable. No one has made an offer on it for those reasons, so I'm hoping that works in our favor.
