Just following on from Meghan's post about toddler beds. I was just curious whose toddlers are still in the crib, and if so, how long do you think you will have them in it for?

Yep, still in his crib. I have no plans to transition anytime soon. Maybe in 6 months or so. We won't be having another baby for at least 11 months so there is no hurry

Still in a crib for Layla too. I have no plans to change her soon, probably keep her in it until well after her 2nd birthday unless she starts to try to climb out first!

Heck my DS turns 3 next month and HE's still in a crib. He hasn't tried to get out yet, so I figure I'm golden until he does....No clue what to do when he figures it out though. I suppose I should do that!

He's still in a crib but he can climb out, so i'm walking a thin line with safety here Right now he hasnt climbed out in over a month at nap time and besides a couple of days a couple of months ago he's never done it at bed time, so, i still feel okay with him being in the crib as long as i dont try to leave him in there for an extended period of time after he wakes up in the am or after nap. If i do put him in his bed and he's not quite all the way ready to lay down i sit in his room where he can't see me and wait until he lays down (usually within 5-10 mins)
Anyway, if the climbing out becomes a major problem ill have to transition him sooner... but if its not then we'll probably wait until spring.
Ideally we'll be having baby 2 next year so we'll just get M another bed instead of changing his crib around

I put transitioning. However, she never had a crib. We used our P&P, same thing I guess. I'd say about 75% of the time she sleeps in the double bed with DH. Sometimes she'll sleep in the bed alone, depending.

Am I the only one who wants to be done with cribs ASAP?
We converted the crib to a toddler bed in May and Kolbie transitioned really well. We'll likely get her a twin for her birthday and retire the crib until we have another baby.

Jamie is still in his crib and as of now I have no plans to transition until necessary. Mylene - I'm curious why you dislike the crib?

It's more like a dislike of lifting a heavy child in and out of the crib
Kaija we had to transition so we could use the crib for Kolbie. We just thought it didn't make sense to get another crib and we had to move her to another bedroom. So she was in a toddler bed for about 4 months and then for her 2nd birthday we got her a twin bed. With Kolbie we hoped that transitioning to a toddler bed would help her sleep better since the sensation of lowering her down into the crib frequently woke her up. We also hoped that she'd stay in bed better, that hasn't worked out either...ah well. Neither of them ever tried to climb out of the crib though.

Jed is still in a crib and I have no plans to transition him. Julia is fine in the bassinet and can sleep in the pack and play after she grows out of the bassinet. Jed loves his crib and sleeps so well in it that I am scared to transition him.

L is still in a crib. We will have bebe #2 in our room for atleast 6 months, and at that point, unless L has gotten to the point where he can get out of the crib earlier then that, we will move L into a toddler bed so this baby can have the crib. Maybe...our crib converts into a toddler bed so we might just get another crib for bebe #2.

Mylene, I've started to think about beds, but that's the just the 'idea' of the bed and how lovely her room will look when we pack away the cot and put a 'big girl' bed in!! I actually love the cot too though because it keeps her safe in one spot. If I know she's tired I can put her to bed and she can have a whinge but falls asleep really quickly. I know from my boys experiences (and her personality), that once in a bed..daytime sleeps will just be a battle and same for the night time bed routine! So, I like the idea of the bed for sure, but not ready to give up the cot yet .
And congrats on the pregnancy siggy I see Penelope - did I miss that news??
