Help! (Ha ha - I wonder how many of my posts start with "Help").

Chanukah/Christmas shopping is wiping me out - between family (6 nieces and nephews and a couple other folks), 3 preschool teachers, white elephant at work, two white elephants with friends, etc. my plan to keep things low budget is not working at all.

1. I need to think of a gift for Jamie's bio dad and his partner and I have no ideas at all!!! They are very trendy/metro so its always hard to think of something that is not expensive but something that will look nice and be appreciated. I've already given them nicely framed pictures of Jamie and stuff like that. They've given me fancy candles, lotions, flowers, a fancy picture frame, etc. I am really stuck! Men are so hard to shop for and gay men are doubly hard to shop for!!!

2. A mommy friend just invited us over for a small celebration this weekend and said "G has something small that he wants to give his friends". Crud. Does this mean we should bring something too??? What can I get that won't cost me much?

No idea! I am doubly grateful I don't have any gay men to shop for, it makes sense that it would be harder!

How old is G? There are a lot of little things that kids get a kick out of. A tub of playdoh was in a party bag after a party we went to last weekend and the kids loved that. Or a plain Christmas bauble that you could use a glitter glue pen to write G's name on - sort of a thoughtful pressie for him to have his own special bauble to put up on his tree (if you've got neat writing!). And if you bought a pack of baubles as I figure you usually have to, then you'd have some spare to do for any other little pressies.

Not sure about the other pressies. Do they go all out on their Christmas decorations? If they do, maybe you could find some nice Christmas deccies they could add to their tree... or is that just lame? And as for being tasteful but not expensive... if that IS an idea you'd consider, maybe you could do it for next year instead.. wait for the after xmas sales this year and then buy them something nice (yet on sale) for next xmas . Okay I'm out of ideas .

For Jamies dad, what about a gift certificate to Groupon or Living social?

For Jamie's bio-dad - I have no idea. All I can think of is a gift certificate to their favorite stores.

As for the small gift - is it for another child? If that is the case I like the idea of the playdough or something else small. If it is for the whole family, how about making a batch of cookies or chex mix?
