What is wrong with people?

I got a call from the base housing office this morning, and they set up a time to meet with me this afternoon. Well as it turns out one of my neighbors filed a formal complaint against us. According to them my kids have been teasing their dog through the fence. Instead of walking the 50 feet to my door to talk to me about what they thought was going on they drove the two miles to the housing office to file a complaint against us. Well I know my kids haven't been teasing their dog because number one they don't go out back alone, and number two they have been sick lately and stuck in the house. Their house is literally connected to my house, and they couldn't even talk to me about it before involving other people. Well now that a formal complaint has been filed that means it goes to my dh's command, so he could possible get in trouble at work over this. It is so freaking stupid. I didn't file a complaint when their dog got out, came into my carport, knocked Alex over, made him cry, and I had to drag the dog back home. I told them what happened, and asked them to try to keep the dog in their yard. I don't complain when their dog goes to the bathroom in my yard, and they don't clean it up. I don't complain when their kids come over into my carport, and play with my kids' toys when we aren't out there. I think this is completely stupid. If they would have talked to me about it, and it wasn't resolved then I would expect them to file a complaint. I pulled my dd off the bus when their dd was bullying my dd, and getting my dd in trouble when she stood up for herself. I had to go up to the school to talk to my dd's teacher and gym teacher because their dd was bullying my dd in gym. I also talked to them about it to make sure they were aware what was going on. I didn't do it behind their back. I can't go talk to them about it because it was an anonymous complaint, but they are the only people near me with a dog. The lady from housing told me that they could get in trouble for telling me who it was even though they didn't tell me who it was. I am going to be so mad if my dh gets in trouble at work over this. I told the lady from the housing office about all the things that have happened, and she told me to just file complaints against them if these things keep happening. I just don't like doing things like that. I would rather talk to them, get it resolved, and move on. What would you do?

That is a bit ridiculous. But if that's the way they want to go with it I'd start filing complaints against them too. What a pain...they sound like "great" people...ugh.

I'd file against them too. Its not like you haven't been extra lenient with them!

But seriously? They really stink as neighbors.

I don't know how much longer they have here. The one time I actually had a conversation with the lady over there she was completely rude to me. She had asked what my dh did in the navy. I told her, and she asked how the deployments worked. When I told her that he was gone for three months home for three months, and that we did that for 5 years she said "Oh so he has never done a real deployment of 6 to 9 months?" I told her that wasn't his job. She told me "oh just wait until he does a real deployment then you will know what real navy life is like." After that conversation I don't really have much of a desire to talk to her. My dh told his Chief about all of it, and he said that if the complaint reaches him then he will take care of it because this is just ridiculous.

You are so much like me! I rather deal with it in person and if not resolved then file a complaint.. now i wouldnt worry about it and just file complains and keep date and times of the incidents... hope they stop being lousy neighbours!
