I just read "Escape," a woman's true story of breaking away from a fundamentalist offshoot cult that originated with the mormon church. It was a really interesting story, although I think they threw it together pretty quickly. I felt like I wanted to edit it the whole time.

But wow, what a life she was escaping - she was in a polygamist household with all kinds of weird power struggles and forms of control and abuse. It was wife against wife and wives against kids, as well as husband-wife stuff. That was the part that surprised me - I figured in a male-dominated society most of the problems would come from males. But no. However, the society left her nowhere to turn for help, so she had to escape. For me it's hard to imagine such a society here in the US, in the 21st century.

Well, anyway, that's probably pretty random unless you've read the book too. But hey, that's where my head is at.

Amee - Do you know yet if the maternity pay is coming through?
