Hi all! I posted once or twice a while back when I was still preggo. I'm back and I had my little girl. I would love to join you ladies. This is our first and we are learning a lot each day. DH had to go back to work this week and so I am alone and it is a little tougher without him here to help. He is military and works an hour away from home so sometimes he stays on post during the week and doesn't come home until the weekend. It is definitely an adventure!!! Anyways, Madeleine Grace was born 2/17 at 3:46pm at 41weeks. She was 7lb 4oz and 20in. Breastfeeding has been a real challenge for us. We are now using a nipple shield and it helps alot, but she still sems hungry ALL the time!!! I am on the verge of cracking and either supplementing or going formula all the way. Trying to wait until her next ped appt next week before we decide.
WELCOME back!!!! Your little girl is beautiful! Don't give up on nursing yet. I thought the same thing when Phoenix was about 1 week old. I gave it three more weeks, the pain went away completely and he was latching very well...Don't give up yet! The biggest thing that kept me going was DH wouldn't LET me quit. And I had a great support group! I will be here to cheer you on the whole way!!!!!!
I also understand about DH being gone. Mine works 2 1/2 hours away, and works nights. He leaves at 2:45 p.m. and doesn't get home until about 5 a.m. the next morning. It's rough. But it's so worth it!
Hope you stick around here. check out the BTDT sub-forum too! You might find some useful information there as well!!!!!
Regarding breastfeeding - I felt like Max was hungry aaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllll the time too, nothing like the every 2-3 hours schedule that "they" talk about. The early weeks were definitely hard, but it has gotten much, much easier. I hope things improve for you too.
Enjoy sweet little Madeleine... it won't be long before she doubles in size and you just may catch "baby fever" like some of the ladies in my PR are now!
Thanks ladies. I am going to keep trying with the BFing. DH really doesn't want me to quit either. He is very opinionated when it comes to how important BFing is and I completely agree, but it's my boobies we are talking about! Lol!
