I scheduled my final ultrasound appointment for Wednesday (the 18th), and I'll be one day shy of 37 weeks. She told me I had to drink 32 oz. of water and finish it an hour before my appointment. Really? I figured 37 weeks I'd be big enough to not need a full bladder. I cant even drink a dixie cup of water without needing to run to the bathroom 10 minutes later, let alone 32 freakin ounces and hold it for an hour! I remember at 19 weeks I was practically in tears, could hardly get out of the car and walk to radiology, then couldn't even sit in the waiting room it hurt so bad, I dont even want to know what it will feel like this far along. Could I get away with drinking maybe half that or even less?
I was never told to drink water I mean I know that's pretty common and it helps to see baby, but I never had any problems with an empty bladder.
Maybe you could just sip up until the appt time. Like on the way there or something. It does seem pretty pointless to ask a VERY pregnant woman to drink that much and hold it for an hour... And then press all over her tummy...
