We were at my sis' house and her BIL (22) didn't know about the whole avoid nuts until 2 or 3 years. He's holding Troy and Troy points and signs please, so Bobby started giving him peanuts. Don't even know how many because it was a while before anyone caught it. Troy is fine though! Anyone else "break the rules" or plan to when their baby is old enough?

I wouldn't say we plan to - but if it happens, it happens. I think of the "rules" more as guidelines, every baby is different... Heck, I was on whole milk at 5 months, it put an end to the colic I'd had since I was born!

I think we'll pretty much stick to the rules as much as possible!

We didn't stick to the rules we gave Kiera egg before a year and yogurt around 9 months but I think that is ok now Honey I will wait till 2 years and Peanut Butter probably 18 months but I doubt we will make it to 2 with peanut butter/nuts.

At least you know he can have it now though

We definitely went by the rules up to 12 mos. My niece has life-threatening food allergies to just about everything (her peanut test is always off the charts, so she has to keep an epi-pen with her... she can't even touch a peanut). I was determined not to give Ben peanuts until his 2nd birthday, but then I found out after-the-fact that Chick-Fil-A fries everything in 100% peanut oil. (We ate there one time before someone pointed that out to me. ) He was fine, but I know that most people don't react to an allergen until the 2nd or 3rd exposure, so I'm keeping my eye on him. I HAVE given him things that have "peanut allergy" written on the package even though there are no peanuts in the bag, though. Things like walnuts or chocolate chips or whatever are often processed on the same machines that peanuts are, so Madison can't eat those things either.

Well I've already broken one rule and given Jackson cereal. He has it every night with his last bottle. I'm not going to give him baby food though until I'm given the go ahead. But we've also let him lick random foods. He doesn't like donuts

Rules were made to be broken weren't they. I see them more as recommendations than hard and fast rules. Every baby is different and thus they can tolerate different things at different times.
