I know I should go to Choosing NOT to vaccinate and ask this, but I am afraid since they don't know me, the question won't be interpreted innocently. In MD they held 6000 students out of school because they did not get there proof of vaccination forms turned in after repeated nagging by officials. For those parents who choose NOT to vaccinate, how do the children go to school if it's required? Anyone know? After reading the article, it made me very curious

Each state has their own rules, but there should be some kind of waiver form you fill out. When I was in school it had to be signed by a clergy member, doctor, etc. stating why you refused the vax. You should ask over there anyway. Use the teacher angle.

Some homeschool. Some are offered waivers. And I know I have seen some people answer that with a religious exemption, though I'm not sure what you have to do to prove that?? I had the same question so I went poking around to see if anything had been said. I give Eric his vaccines, though - especially since the Rotavirus scare - so I have no first hand experience!

Here's a link to one of the CNTV board's stickies. A couple of the links in that sticky contain information about individual states' waiver forms.

Cool thanks for that Chrystal. I know that more and more people aren't vacc. so I knew there had to be something. I will definitely ask over there. What about if it's not religious reasons and just personal choice??? HMMMMM When I find out, I will get back to you!

I think most these days say for reasons of "conscience" or religion. Not everyone is religious, but everyone has beliefs (even if their belief is to believe nothing... KWIM?).

I asked the Choosing Not to Vax board--basically it is a waiver and that is it. I think it varies by state as to what's required.
