I'm completely confused. I had what we assumed to be AF on March 22. Then I had a positive OPK on April 5. AF showed again on April 10! WTH? Last time it was really light flow, I had no cramps, etc. This time it's awful - much heavier and horrible cramps. My midwife said it's not uncommon to have irregular cycles at this point, especially because I'm breastfeeding, but this is so completely frustrating! The good news, if I O when I think I will - DH is home next week!!! Since Kennedy sleeps through the night maybe, just maybe we'll have a shot. But AF would need to stay away for more than 5 days after I O!!!

I have no experience with this but I have heard the same thing your midwife told you, that things can be weird right after birth and when you're breast feeding. I hope things even out soon! Breast feeding is known as a natural contraceptive so I don't really know how you would go about TTC while BF - has your midwife told you anything about this?

That really sucks Jenn! I am sorry! My SIL got pregnant while bfing. But she was not bfing as often as you are because her son was 10 months at the time.

BF isn't a guaranteed contraceptive apparently. I wasn't even expecting for AF to show up anytime soon. The only way it works at all is if you are exclusively breastfeeding. She said you have to be feeding on demand and not pumping at all. Because of Kennedy's condition we have to give her bottles of milk with oil mixed in. She also has some lazy days, where she doesn't nurse well. I've been pumping since day 1, so the whole BFing as a contraceptive totally doesn't work for us.
