My wife had a recent miscarriage or a 'possible' ectopic pregnancy. I say 'possible' because it was still very early in the pregnancy. She had a d and c and 3 mtx shots. After the shots her hcg went from 80 to 25 to 10. Her last shot was a week ago. However when we went back today for the final blood test, the doctor said he sees a possible fetus but not in the proper place. He said not to worry though as her hcg is already at 10 (we're waiting for it to go lower than 5). Does this sound right or is the doctor just seeing things? It's really stressful waiting on results for these things. My wife is also ovulating if that matters.

Any thoughts?

How high did her HCG ever get at its highest? I think it was pretty low wasn't it? I ask because as an early pregnancy progresses, you can't really see anything until hcg reaches about 1000-2000. I doubt he is seeing the fetus itself, but he might be seeing the gestational sac which you can see earlier than the fetus. You might want to have a follow up u/s in a week or two to make sure whatever he is seeing is gone. Where did he see it?

The highest that it's been (that we know of) was around 80. Can you see the sac at that point? However, the last test showed that the HCG was going down and was about 10 at the last count. This is so stressful as the doctors report something different every time!

Thanks for your input.

At 80 I don't think you can see anything. Although it's possible it was much higher before - if it had reached 1000-2000 and you guys didn't know about it it's possible it grew big enough. Good luck.

Well her HCG is at 1 which is a good thing. Doctor told her to just get some rest and no sex for awhile. However, we're still concerned at what the doctor thought was sac when he did an u/s. Obviously it's not that as the HCG is so low now but here we go again; something else to worry about. Any idea what this could be? She'll have another test this Saturday but we now have then to stress out again

Again, she was ovulating when they did the u/s.

Where did the doctor see this "sac"? You mentioned it wasn't where it should have been.
