Will you formula feed or breast feed your next little one?

I'll probably breast feed longer than I did this time...since I won't be working and that will save a ton of money!

I think I'de like to be able to BF at least for a little while. I tried to pump with M but i never got milk... i guess bec/ it was so early maybe? I'm not sure. I'm not into actual bf-ing for several reasons... but, i might try to pump more then i did. It also depends on if i have another preemie - they wanted him on formula to help him gain weight so i would maybe end up doing half and half or something probably.

I would love to bf - but with Jed had I had an insufficient supply. I took reglan, pumped like a maniac and nursed - and nothing. When I stopped bf, I went cold turkey and my bb's didn't hurt or leak. I really wasn't producing anything.
That being said, if I do get a BFP, I am going to try and meet with a LC to see if there is anything I can do from the moment I give birth to increase my chances of breastfeeding.
I did bf Jed 10 minutes after birth and on demand for 3 weeks (along with pumping in between).
After that long answer - I guess my answer is I want to bf but may have to ff!

I will for SURE bf! I absolutely love it. I've become kind of hardcore about it, to be honest. It has been a sacrifice, because my pumps while I'm at work make enough for the next day and that's about IT so we don't do bottles at night or anything so the feeding is all on me, but it's so worth it. The bonding for us has been indescribable.
As long as I'm able to breastfeed, it's not even an option!

I will BF all of my babies. Especially now I know that my pump was the problem with Kaija, not me. I'll feel much more confident working and BFing!

Assuming I get to have a baby that is big enough to breastfeed at the beginning, I'm all about it. I've loved BF Lauren, but DS was a different matter. Having to pump every time when you're a SAHM honestly sucks some rocks. Four months of that and I was finished. I think I would really like my kiddo to take a bottle though. I get a new pump for the next kiddo and I'm excited for that to make life slightly easier. Then again, we want to have #3 and 4 rather close together as well, and I don't know if my body will ovulate if I'm BF full time.

Honestly, I'm not sure and I'm not going to put any expectations on myself. I didn't have enough supply with Melodie and now that I see how healthy she is regardless of being formula fed even though I tried so badly to BF her, I don't want to go through that hell again. I will try my best to BF our next baby also, but if I still don't have any supply, I will switch to formula and not worry about it as much as I did with Melodie. I had so much guilt for not being able to BF her, and I still do actually. I think I honestly thought BFing was always a choice...until I found out that's not always the case. I did more than I even thought was humanly possible to get my supply to come in properly (even meds and pumping and nursing 8-10x a day each!), but it never did. So now I see it as something I HOPE to be able to do. I honestly look back now and think it is amazing to me that I didn't suffer from PP depression (or maybe I did and never noticed, IDK) because the 2 first months were hell when it came to feeding her. I was (and still am!) so pro BFing that I felt so much shame in not being able to, like I wasn't as good a mother or something because my body was letting me and my daughter down. I'm crying now just remembering all the emotions that I felt, and obviously still have in the back of my mind. So I honestly don't know if this experience has ruined it for me forever, or if I'd even be able to BF another baby later on or if I won't have enough supply for that baby either.

Lisa - that is exactly how I feel! I definitely feel the same way...I try to remember that in 10 year, even if 5 years - no one is going to ask if I formula fed or breast fed. The point is that they were well nourished and taken care of!

I will BF the next one just like Violet and Lily. I've been very lucky to never have supply issues or any other difficulties with nursing.

If this is any comfort to Lisa or Laura, my mom didn't have enough milk to BF my oldest sister. Her 2nd she was able to nurse for 6+ months and the rest of us she was fine for the whole first year. I know every situation is different, but you're both great mamas, so try not to get discouraged or feel badly for whatever you need to do.

If I have anymore kids, I will definitely BF just like I have my other 2. I'm very glad I haven't had any real issues, just a few strikes here and there. Right now I'm going through a bit of a low supply spurt, but seems like it may just be the return of AF.

I would love to BF my next LO. Now that I know about my nipple issue, I'm not gonna get so discouraged. Brynlee has always been an impatient eater, so she was easily frustrated at the breast. I'm hoping that, now that I know what to expect, it'll be easier not to get as frustrated.
