Baby #2's first u/s and appt!

I didn't get to meet with the midwife today---just the nurse. I'll meet the midwife (the same one who delivered Caleb!) at my next appt on April 19th. I had my blood drawn and a pee sample taken, and I had my first u/s---which only showed one baby, not two!

Everything looks great; the baby measured at 7w5d, which is right about where I suspected it would be for when I ovulated. She said that would make my EDD 11/02, but that they'll just keep it at where my LMP puts it, which is 10/31. (I'm confused about that, but whatever. The EDD's just a guess, anyway.) The HB was 144bpm, and we got to listen to it.

Caleb was being really loud and cranky, though, so it was hard to concentrate. Before I knew it, the u/s was over. I got this picture to take home, which doesn't show much:

I bet it's another boy

With both girls my first u/s showed an EDD within a few days of my EDD by LMP so my Dr. stuck with LMP. It was just easier and like you said, it's just a guess anyway.

Sorry Caleb was a little grouch though. I can't take the diva to any of my prenatals b/c she's too ornery. I know this is a ways away but think about whether or not you want to find a sitter for when you get your gender scan. We took Aly and Matt had to leave the room and missed the whole appt. b/c she was crying her head off. On the flip side, it is nice to have the whole family go-anyways--you have time to think about that

I'm going to guess girl! Sounds like a good appt! Don't worry about the EDD from the u/s being different than your LMP. They're so close that it doesn't really matter.

I'm thinking girl, too, actually!

The ladies in the Nov '11 DDC mentioned this new study that links early-pregnancy placenta location with gender, and over the course of the study, it ended up being 100% accurate (they studied almost 6,000 women). Before 8 weeks, if the baby is on the left side of the gestational sac, then it's a girl, and if it's on the right side of the gestational sac, then it's a boy. Since abdominal u/s are mirror images, this baby is actually on the left---so girl.
