So Harleigh and I went to Kohl's this evening because they are having a pretty good sale and she needs clothes for winter.
Within 30 seconds of walking in the door a lady that works there did the whole "oh she is so precious", and touching her and what not. Ok that is fine.
But then she preceded to tell me she wasn't my child, and when I was like yea she is she told me I was wrong. And then went on to say I was entirely way to young to have a child.

This kind of stuff bothers me.
First off, I am pretty sure I am the one that labored with her and delivered her. And I am pretty sure she knows nothing about me. She does not know that I will be 23 this year, or that I have been married for almost 2 years.

I hate when people are adamant that she is not my child, and then judge me because I look young. Like seriously?
Yes I am almost 23, yes that is young. But you don't know situation. AT ALL.

End Rant.

People can be such morons. I've been judged so many times it's not even funny. I had my dd at 19 and I've always looked much younger. You should see the look on peoples faces when I tell them I have 3 kids. The worst is when people think that my son isn't mine because he's mixed. I swear people must really like the taste of their own feet.

I have gotten a lot that Harleigh isn't mine. She has an olive complexion. Her daddy is filipino and italian. I'm very white. lol
I just hate that people are so ignorant.
Like hello its 2011. There are interracial couples and biracial children. And there is nothing wrong with it!

Wow! Some people have no filter and that bugs me. I've gotten that before, too. My husband and I were at the grocery store with our 3 boys and a lady in the bakery said "There's no way all of those are yours. I mean, I know they must be because they all look alike, but y'all just look way too young too have three! Did you start when you were teenagers" Seriously??? I mean, I guess we look young, but a)so what if we did start young, that's none of your business and b)how dare you say something like that IN FRONT of my boys? Nevermind the fact that she was dead wrong. We are both 30, and had our first at 25! Some people!

In all fairness, I'm sure the bakery lady may have meant it as a sort-of compliment, but it was her tone that really got to us. I honestly feel like I look my age, but apparently others don't, so you're totally right! I should take it while I can and like it!

Its all about the tone! On a good day I look 13
Most people do know I am older, just don't know how much older just because I have tattoos that are visible.
I have no issues with people telling me I look young and what not, but sometimes it just comes out wrong depending on their tone of voice and then it pisses me off!

This thread made me laugh so hard!!

I remember when my son was less than a year old... my sister (who was still in high school and looks older than me) came with me to search for a dress/gown/whateveryoucallit for a banquet dinner. It was around the same time as prom so there were a whole bunch of girls with their mothers trying on dresses as well. The looks, stares, glares, and whispers I got were ridiculous!!

Granted, my sister and I looked like high school students with a baby in tow shopping for prom dresses also, but they didn't KNOW that. My senior prom had been 3 years ago!

All I know is, when their husbands leave them for a younger model, mine won't because I'll still look like the younger models - HA!

I have to say this hit home for me too!! I remember when my son was about 8 months old (I was 18), I was walking down the street and an older woman told me my little brother was so adorable. I corrected her, and she said there was no way, I couldn't be more than 14. At the time I was a little annoyed, but thought on it & figured that I did look young and was young- I just think people should just that the kid(s) are adorable, you look so young - don't get too deep into what you think, because it is usually incorrect!

I agree Tanya.
I hate that people are so adamant. Like really?!

Yesterday we went out to dinner and there was an older couple there making comments about some high school girls. Well when we were leaving the looks we got from this lady were ridiculous. Ryan was like I'm sure she is thinking something about us being young, and that I am brown And I am sure that is what it is. When I was pregnant we got the most disgusted looks from older people and it makes me so mad. People in general are just ignorant.

That's my thing. I don't mind looking younger. The shock on peoples faces when I tell them I'm mid thirty. lol I get annoyed when people look at me with disgust and then follow it up nastiness. Those I quickly put in their places.

I used to get annoyed when people said I looked younger than my little sis. But now that I am pushing 33, I don't mind. I think how much it annoys you depends on how close to mid-life crisis you are.

I had my 5 kids in the store the other day and this lady came up and about fell over herself when I said, "yes, they are all mine". "Oh, but you look too young to have that many kids!" she said. Well, not when you have a baby every other year. They kinda add up fast. LOL

I try to remember that the older you get, the younger the young look! I look at high schoolers now and think wow, they look like babies! College kids look like high schoolers.

It's all perspective. I get told I look young all the time; it's a rare day I don't get carded for a beer or getting into the casino.

Oh yeah, been there! I had my first when I was 20... and I look young anyway. I also have two stepchildren, who were at the time 6 and 12. So now when we go out, (i'm 26 now...) I have a 17 year old, 11 year old, 5 year old, and 10 mo old... people get so confused.

I just take people who make ignorant comments like that with a grain of salt, and look forward to looking young in my 40's and 50's one day!
