I currently have 4 kids, 2 of which are my step kids who are 8 and 10 that live with us 50% of the time. The other two are mine my birth; 2 girls ages almost 3 and 8 months. I am currently nursing and plan to do so until she weans naturally; average age around 2. (or older from what I have read) I know my cycle can return as her feedings reduce to her growing and wanting more solid food etc. They haven't returned yet but I am having tons of fertile CM. TONS...almost every day. I can clearly feel my body trying to cycle and even almost mimic PMS with skin breakouts/moods/tiredness.

My husband does not want any more kids and would gladly get a vasectomy if I gave him the green light. That being said, I would love one more because I've always wanted lots of kids of mine own. My husband really only wanted 2 children , but had 2 more with me because when he married me, he knew that was in the cards. I am 29 and he is 43. I know I could never convince him to have another but if it were to happen, he knows I would never terminate. We are not using any birth control right now except for the withdrawal method. We used it for a month prior to getting married and I didn't get pregnant. He used it with an ex g/f for a year and never got her pregnant. When he got both me and his ex wife pregnant, it was literally the first time he tried, each time, each kid. This tells me that, I think his sperm are capable but that the reason no one has ever gotten pregnant has been because he really knows his timing. I can tell he does because he pulls out long before. (a good 3-5 seconds)

I have heard various things about whether or not you canget pregnant from pre-cum. What is the truth? Some say the pre-cum does not contain sperm and it is produced by the Cowper's glands. I have also heard that the only way pre-cum can have sperm in it is if the man has not urinated since his last ejaculation as urine kills any sperm still randomlly left in the urethra. My husband and I have sex ( TMI) about 3 times a week and never more than once in a row...NEVER! So, the likelihood of him not urinating for a day, lol..is none.

I have very strong faith and really believe that if it is meant to be, it will be. Given that, we are not using BC and everything that I have described, do you think there is a chance I could get preg? We plan on using this method for a long time.

We have never gotten pregnant when using withdrawl, and we have been using it on and off for 12 years.

I've always heard you can get pregnant that way, but I can't say I know for sure. Other than a few "accidents" (I was using Nuvaring for awhile several years ago and once forgot to put in the new one for about 3 days), we were always too afraid to chance it until we were ready to start TTC. I hope some of the other ladies will have reliable answers for you!

Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky!

Me and my husband have been using the withdrawal method since our son was born (he is now 20 months old) I got pregnant once with it when our son was 13 months old, which unfortunately ended in miscarriage in June 2011.. we have been using it since and have not got pregnant and i am very fertile (unprotected sex once in that month to conceive my two youngest children). Hope the info helped.

We got pregnant with the withdrawal method with #1 (and we didn't have two rounds of DTD) We also just used it recently for about 4 months before we moved on to TTC #2.

If I remember reading correctly, the failure rate is about 20%ish. I also think that I remember reading that while pre-ejaculation does not typically contain sperm, that what happens is that sometimes men will actually intermittently ejaculate small amounts of sperm during intercourse. But..... I don't think they have nailed any of this down to an exact answer so its all kind of up to chance & luck (or unluck lol)

Thanks, everyone. What is DTD? I think you are right in that they really don't know whether or not pre-cum has sperm. It's interesting to here that some have used it for so long and never gotten preg. for those who did, do you believe that your DH timed it right?

I am not really to sure about the withdraw method since we have never used it. We've always used bc or nothing at all. Each time we've used nothing at all I've ended up pregnant within less than 5 months without trying. Our 3rd kiddo who is now 6 months old I had been on BC for 5 years and was off for I think 4 months and we weren't very active due to work reasons, when I say not active there were some weeks it would happen maybe once plus my husband and I are both diabetic. And my blood sugars when I got pregnant with her were horrible. So I do believe that if it is meant to happen it will currently I am not taking any BC an am wondering when we will be blessed with another little one

Oh yes, always timed right! he pulls out seconds before and does nothing inside me, which just says their must be sperm in pre-cum otherwise i wouldn't of got pregnant that time. Also DTD means = did the deed or do the deed.

DH and I used withdrawal for years and then again when I went off birth control last year. We never got pregnant, and I know he timed it right. This month was the first month that we stopped using that method, as we were "not trying, not preventing" and I got pregnant on 1 of 3 possible nights!

while it is rare to get pregnant using this method its most likely not impossible.."precum" in itself doesnt contain sperm it is possible that it can actually carry "leftover spermies" from prior intercourse or ejaculation that have been left in the urethra(in a lot of cases passing urine should kill most of the leftovers but what about those bionic swimmers?)..its rare..very rare..but it does happen..Youre probably ok but I personaly don't trust any man to have that kind of control..

Used the withdrawal method 3 years and never got pregnant. And yet when we tried, we got pregnant the very first month. WIthdrawal does work if it is performed correctly. I know what you mean about wanting a large family. Maybe your husband will change his mind.

I'm hoping for a third but my dh does not want a third. That said we are using withdrawal method unless I'm pretty sure I'm not in the window of opportunity. Mainly a couple of days before my period ends or a week before I'm sure it will start. We used this method between kids too and never got preg until we were actively trying. I think one of the main issues with withdrawal might be the guys timing. If he pulls out even a little late then there's always that chance.

I've had several friends that got pregnant using withdrawal, even when the man has been really good with his timing. One's husband went nearly a year with a previous GF with no problem, and then only a few months into marriage my friend was pregnant. It really seems to depend, but I know I've never trusted it.

hi sorry to crash your thread i was reading and had to put my expriences in.
before i had my son i wanted another dh didn't and he was using withdrawel for 5 years and in that time i got pg twice both ended in m/c i think because the sperm you are getting is not the best quality the month he agreed to ttc i got pg.
i know how hard it is when you want another and he doesn't i'm in that situation now myself.
from my exprience try not to keep on at him about it it will only make him not want it more.
could you try get him to dtd twice straight after each other before he cleans him self up?
good luck hun

Hi there! I was reading your post, and we have a lot in common. I'm 20 and married to a man that's almost 10 years older than me; I have a step daughter, and we're using the pull out method. We both want a baby but he wants to wait a month or two to actually use the ovulation tests, and stuff like that. But, I've heard that the pull out method doesn't work at all. I'm actually a product of the pull out method, LOL. My Mom told me it doesn't work at all. I've had three losses, but I'm hoping that I can get pregnant soon. I've heard lots of stories about the pull out method failing. So, I think if it's in God's will... you can DEFINITELY get pregnant. I'm sure your husband would understand if you did. I know how you feel about wanting a baby! It's a woman thing.

Keep me posted and I hope things work out for you!

OMG...we do have A LOT in common...I will keep you psoted and you, me. I will say a prayer it works!!!!!! It is def' a woman thing....oh man, baby fever is tough! I think dh would have a heart attack. He would want me to get an abortion but I wouldn't. Also, he wants a vasectomy but I begged him not to. He hasn't really ever tried seriousely to get one....so obviousely he is just truckin' ahead.

LOL..i could try but not so sure it could technically work, if you know what I mean.... long refractory period for this one. We have never once had it twice in a row....he always feels satisfied and if I'n not..he would take care of me, without "him" lol..ya know?

That's like my husband! Can I ask how old their husbands were? Mine is 43 and not sure if age makes a difference ....
