to me, too many children is the number a family reaches when they are unable to care for all of each of their child's needs. This includes not only food, clothing, diapers and other personal items and shelter, but also, time, love, support, and the ability to give each child individual attention ranging from one on one time to time spent at their extra curicular activities! I view this also as doing all of the above without any long term assistance being required from others (including government agencies) So I would say people should have as many children as they want given they can provide everything mentioned above without interfering in any way with others.

I also agree. I think the exact number is different for different people.

Yea I was thinking maybe three is our max because dh & I can't separate more than three kids by sitting between them at church. But maybe our oldest will be better behaved by the time we have to separate our youngest from his brothers.

Different for different people. I've seen people not able to raise one child well, and another family with seven children that are impeccably behaved. =) My personal limit is 3. I like my alone time, and I still get a bunch with 2. Don't think one more in the mix would hurt.

Well... i want 5!

But i agree with the 1st post... so long as you can provide for each child physically and emotionally, the sky's the limit really...
I come from a family of 5 and SO from 4, so i know its do-able and i loved being in such a big family... crazy and chaotic at the best of times but wouldn't give it up for the world!

It has already been said - as long as you can provide (financially and emotionally) then go for it!
