deliberately point out the qualities of objects and try let your child experience these qualities by touching and handling the objects. as your child now learns to form images of objects in his minds eye, he will naturally also become more aware of different qualities such as "round", "soft", "big", "heavy", etc. tell him "feel the ball, its smooth like the table. and its round like this other ball. see how round it is when you turn it? your ball is blue, likie this blue cushion."
use simple brief descriptions, as his comprehension is still very limited. you want your chi8ld to be able to absorb as much info about the qualities of objects as possible.
