This is how i make Samantha's "grilled" cheese sandwiches.

I simply toast a slice of whole wheat or whole grain bread in the toaster, cut it in half. Put a slice of cheddar or swiss (or both) cheese on it. Put in the microwave until melted, allow to cool so it doesn't burn little fingers and mouths & then cut or leave whole and serve.

Sometimes i add tomato slices, eggs, ham, things like that.

That is how I was doing it too, but now I use the toaster oven. I put a slice of cheese on one side of the bread & place both slice facing up on the rack in the toaster oven then turn it on medium toast. It comes out pretty well that way. Just recently we started making them with the George Foreman grill too! Awesome!
