I have gone through atleast 5 packs of reg toddler crayons in the past 2 months.

My oldest loves to color, while my youngest loves to break and try to eat them...

Ive tried the tadoodles and IMO they make a mess.....

I tried the color wonder markers that only mark on certain paper, back when my youngest was 1... he'll be 3 in march.... he ate those back then... im trying to decide if he'd destroy them now.

I hate letting my oldest color and not my youngest... its not fair, he enjoys it too but almost always breaks or tries to eat the crayon...

Ive also tried the twistable ones... yeah he just pulls the crayon part out

What type of crayons do you use? And how old is your LO?

well Kyla is 2 and we just used any that look age appropriate. we go through tons of them cos Kyla leaves them all over the house. so they end up mixed in with all her toys.

have you tried mayb giving them their own crayons in a seperate box. that way if he breaks them, its his not hers.

We're working with a 26 month old, but what we do is store crayons, markers, etc. in their own labeled bins that are kept out of his reach and provided while supervised only. And he's still managed to get the wall when we weren't fast enough..

If they break, just melt them down and make fun shape and such.

My grandma used to do that for us. Sometimes they were all one color, other times she molded them together to make a rainbow crayon. They were awesome!

Breana is 3 and I use teh crayons on a stick that isn't what it is called they twist up. so she can't break them or try to eat them

Have you tried the larger custom Crayons at CrayonsClub?
Can't eat them and to large to break. They are also so much fun

Avery is 17 months. I have tried and tried crayons but she just eats them. I finally just gave up on crayons. But she does love to draw so sometimes I'll give her washable markers (we did a fun project in the bathtub, I have pics on my blog) but even those are often too messy. I finally sprung for some color wonders. She loves them and I love that I don't have a huge mess to clean up. Win-win!

Yeah my daughter eats crayons if I don't watch her every second. She's 20 months old. I have taken them away for now

My 23 month old still eats crayons, so we let him color with pens.

hi there,
we use those cool rock crayons because they are fat and round and can't be broken. my little on freaks out if she breaks a crayon… crazy toddlers! i also like that they are normally not easy to chew on or bite a chunk off of like smaller crayons.

That is normal. Kids that age do use crayons like that.

How about just giving him colored pencils instead of crayons?
